Buying from eBay
« on: October 26, 2004, 05:52:00 AM »
I'm looking at buying the following ball from eBay.  http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=36105&item=7110090062&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW

I'm looking for a dry lane urethane thats comparable to the old blue and burgandy Hammers.  First off, is this ball comparable in reaction, and secondly, what questions or things should I be aware of before making a purchase?

Thanks in advance!

I don't have any info for you on the ball, but I have bought many things from ebay.  I have never had any problems.  I would suggest, though, to check the feedback ratings of anyone you're planning to deal with.

Don't forget that the new red pearl Hammer only has a pancake weightblock.  It's not a 2 piece like the older ones.  It should be tame as far as the cover goes, but it might not hit like you're used to.

Thanks Strider!  There are also an AMF Angle LD ball for sale, as well as a black Pure Hammer.  Are any of these comparable as well?

The Angle LD is an old pearl urethane and I don't recall it hooking a ton back in the day.  I much prefer'd my old Purple Angle or Blue Angle over this ball.  The Pure Hammer hooks more than most people think too.

Why not look at something like a Trooper?

Or look around for an old blue hammer...they pop up once in a while on Ebay.

I've been looking a lot for the blue hammer.  I used to have one and loved it, but it got ruined in a basement flood.  I've been looking to get a replacement ever since then, but now even more since the dang house decided oil wasn't necessary.  The 2 top guys in the league both throw similar balls to mine, and both have gone to Hammers.  One burgandy and the other a blue.

So the Pure Hammer hooks a lot?  Can you compare how much more hook I should expect as opposed to the old blue hammer?
