Buddie's Pro Shop Recommendation
« on: December 01, 2003, 10:11:35 PM »
I recently made my first purchase from Buddies Pro Shop www.buddiesproshop.com.  The items were shipped the very next morning and arrived four days later (I didn't ask for any sort of express shipping, simple UPS ground) exactly as I requested.  I also enjoy the option of paying through a third party processor - ala PayPall.  After a month of researching, I'm convinced that while Buddie's may not always have the lowest price, their prices are always below average.  The site is easy to use and allows you to make special requests on each piece of equipment ordered.

The only partial negative was as follows:
On the web site, when I ordered one of the bowling balls (I bought two) I was not given the option of specifying pin-out.  On the other ball I was given the option of specifying pin-out.  My guess is that when the site does not give you the option, they are unable to provide an adequate selection/range of pin outs for that ball.  (Maybe it says somewhere in the FAQs or somewhere else, I didn't look very hard)  To me, there is both a good and bad side to this situation.  The good side - they don't list what they don't have.  There is no misrepresentation.  The (somewhat) down side - The ball where I could not specify pin out has about a half-inch between the pin and the CG.  While this didn't give me a large number of drilling options on this particular ball, drilling options were not important to me, only the coverstock was.

In summary:

I will definitely be ordering more equipment from Buddie's in the future.

Janderson,

When ordering through them it is better to call during their business hours. Many times I have requested certain Pin-out distances and they have never had a problem. By not listing they do not pigeon-hole themselves for specific values. Which makes it easier when ordering in mass quantities from manufacturers.

Thanks for the advice, I'll give them a call the next time I'm interested in a ball and the web site doesn't provide a drop-down list box for pin-out.

I'm just hoping my post will help others in a situation where the pin-out does matter to them, even though in my case, it did not.

On any closeout ball or special, we have a limited supply of equipment.  This is why we do not ask for specs.  You may add the specs that you are looking for in the comments section of the checkout and we will send the closest ball available.
