I
drilled this ball pin under ring finger with the cg kicked out and a
balance hole in quadrant 4 with leaving the thumb weight in the ball for
 earlier roll.

I tested the hardness in three points and the d-scale read 75, 76, 77. I
am not sure what the hardener in the ball actually does unless the
pores in the ball are smaller.

The ball falls well within current technology hardness of 75 to 78, whereas some manufacturers like Lane Masters test 76 to 81.

The cover stock is thick compared to some manufacturers and drilled very
nicely. The core looks like its a good polyester/mineral filler core.
No air holes in the material when drilled. No ripples either. I have a
16 pound piece and the filler looked dense. Cover quality was smooth and
looked uniform. There were no surface blemishes and logo's are filled
in nicely and smoothly.

The ball is made by Via B Products out of South Korea.

The ball has a even arch without being snappy. If you can get the ball
to hook. For those who want a check mark type of reaction this ball may
not be for you. This ball is not going to hook sharply left off the dry.

I don't see the ball having a lot of forgiveness like more aggressive
pieces. For older players like myself who enjoyed the Hammer/Urethane
era will possibly like this ball. I am at the point though where I have
fully accepted reactive and understand why its still the way to go
except for ten pin spare making. Younger players may not like this ball
because its not a big hooker or an oil soaker

The other reviewer, Mega Mav is right in the sense that this is not a
piece like the higher aggressive pieces on the market but for a first
piece it is a good product. This is not a benchmark piece.

For the bowler like myself who bowls league and the occasional
tournament, this ball is fine, but I could not score well with it in
league because my rev rate is too low for this ball. If one bowls a lot
of tournaments and higher oil volumes, this may not be for you.

I am not very technical when it comes to modern ball drilling so I
simply asked my pro shop guy to drill the ball for even arch.

For my purposes of bowling on Modified THS and Kegel Sport and Challenge
series patterns, the ball will be fine. As for PBA conditions, I do not
know but I prefer a weaker piece if indeed this turns out to be a
weaker piece. I will know more with the next release.

In both league and open play situations, I could not make this ball hook
at all, especially if any oil is present. I had a couple of very high
rev players throw the ball and again, they could not make the ball hook.

The ball proves the adage that the most important part of a ball is the
cover stock. ALL major advances in bowling ball technology has come with
cover stocks. From rubber to plastic to urethane to reactive, and
everything in between makes all the difference. I did not try sanding
this piece and there appears to be no particles either. Sanded pieces
and particle pieces go back as far as the rubber and plastic era when
some balls back then had particles and were also sanded.

I will use this ball for ten pins. I have loaned it to my pro shop guy
and he is going to try it in a burnt up house where he bowls.

This ball would be perfect for a house that has dry backends.  Very predicable reaction, and smooth of the dry.. For the first realse from jet has a good one.. Cant wait to see there heavier oil ball.

Likes:Easy to drill, Extremely smooth

I drilled this ball about a month ago and ready to review it.
I did a simple label drill on ball and at first was disapointed with it. the cover was oil soaked it didnt do a whole lot.

After about 3 games the track started to build in it cover started to soak and the ball was hooking more and more each frame. Its one of the most smooth rolling balls i have ever thrown this ball works great on house patterns, wet/dry conditions and when the heads burn up.

Ball works great for slower ball speeds and higher rev players

Likes: Loves the length and the continous hooking thru the pins. I drilled my ball with the pin below my fingers and kicked the cg out a inch from middle of span. The review on this ball is a great dry lane ball unless u have a lot of revs and then great on medium to light oil. Well This ball does more then that. This ball keeps on trucking thru the pin deck. When you throw this ball you think man it gets pretty long at first but when the core takes over it keeps going and going blasting thru the rack. If you need a ball to go long and still have a lot of power on the back end this is a ball for you. The tournament bowler will love this ball especially when the lanes break down and you need more length. The league bowler that wants a ball to play up the boards with not a big hook will love this ball cause they can play the area pretty much all night with this ball. So if you haven't got your hands on a JET Bowling Ball You need to go out and get one.

Carry - excellent - makes that sound of a thicker cover ball
Likes - very smooth - no over/under reaction
Dislikes - none
Other -
Let me tell you - these balls are the real deal. The Jet is a very smooth control ball and can be used on various conditions depending on your speed and revs. For me a fresh med oil I would have to play a direct line BUT game 2 or 3 when the lane starts opening up - BANG! When everybody else is trying to find a deep inside line without crossing the used  track you can still be playing the track with the Jet. This ball also handles carry down VERY good. Medium light to light or short patterns this ball is at home. I was standing 23 with my left foot and rolling the ball over the 12 board out to the 8-10 board and it just rolled right into the pocket. I tugged it once and it held line but left a solid 8 pin. This ball has strength so do not let it fool you. It will shred the rack and has that thicker cover sound when it does. Lane Master bowlers know that sound and it is a pretty sound! This ball is easy to read and make moves with. Very predictable. If you bowl a 2nd league or long tournaments or on lighter conditions the Jet is a must have ball in your bag and if you need one hook up with UrbanJ51 here on BR or BBE and tell him the Tigger sent you! He will do you right!

Likes:  I got this ball some weeks ago on a trade deal off here.  At first I liked the dark coloring of the ball, mine is mostly black looking.  anyway rolling this ball on my ths shot I need to move outside around the 7-8 board and aim for the gutter.  the length is really good with a snappy backend.  hitting power is awesome, strikes whenever I get close to pocket.  being my ths is a long heavy pattern this ball did go past the break point some time due to my higher speed.  I used a 4000 abralon pad on it and still got ok length but the backend was about 2 feet sooner and much more archy.  it matches up better with the sanded finish on longer patterns, I can also move in to near the second arrow now and get great carrying power.

Dislikes:   This ball is great and rolls nice.  my only problem is I'm a lefty bowler and use right handed drilled balls sometimes wit luck.  And other times no good.  This ball is drilled righty and I roll over the finger hole with my track.  I'm having success with it as is, but do plan on a full plug and redrill.  That will be a great day!!

Likes: I purchased the Black Jet on recommendation from Jet Crew member Mike Stewart. I was looking for an arcing control ball to allow me to play straighter up the oil line on my blocked THS. I was struggling this year due to my stronger equipment( i.e. Pearl Cell ) making me move more into the oil, but then over reacting to the very dry boards outside 10.
This core shape has worked for me in the past due to my low axis tilt, medium speed, and high track tweener style.

Mike drilled the ball 83 x 4.5 x 50 which put the pin in my ring finger hole and required no weight hole. After several practice and league sessions I have arrived at a sheen ball surface as giving me the best reaction on this THS.
The Jet performed great as I had hoped it would. It gives an arcing reaction, allowing me to keep my target in front of me, controling the over reaction I had been fighting here. I now have area left and right of target as this coverstock reads the oil well also. I can stay with this ball all three games in league, which I was not able to do with my stronger equipment.

This ball hits and carries very well for me, and gives me a lot of confidence now. Each of my last three league nights with the Jet I have scored better and better, increasing my highest game and series each week, and now believe I can bowl honor scores here again.

Needless to say I am very happy with my purchase of the Jet. Thanks Jet Bowling and Crew Member Mike Stewart!

BALL SPECS

Pin Length: 2-3

Starting Top Weight: 2.75

Ball Weight: 15 lb 3 Oz

DRILL PATTERN

Do not have technical documentation, I actually enjoy this ball so much I own 3 in different drill patterns and modified surfaces. For this review, I plan to concentrate on my Pin above the ring finger with the CG kicked out to about 40 degrees.

BOWLER STYLE

Rev Rate: Approx 300? I would say I am a medium revs guy

Ball Speed: 15-16 (15.5 is optimal for reaction on lanes for me)

PAP/Track: Hi Track runs very close to the thumbhole.

SURFACE PREP

Grit: While I have tried many different surfaces 4000 is the one I reach for every week

Type: (Matte, Polish, Sanded): Polished (I like to use Valentino Bowling UFO polish for my Jet)

LANE CONDITION

Length: various

Volume: various

Type (THS, Sport Pattern etc): Have tried on many patterns but mostly on THS that has varied from very light to med/heavy oil

BALL REACTION

Length: Length on this ball is a solid 7 - This is not a skid flip type ball (though when I throw with greater speed it emulates a skid flip.)

Back End: When the Jet makes it's move it has a great backend reaction but for the sake of this review I will again call it in between a 7-8

Overall Hook: I believe the overall hook of this ball to be very solid 7 on a scale of 10

Midlane Read: In all but the heavier oil, the Jet has a solid midlane read for me, by the time it passes the first set of arrows on the lane, I know whether it has a chance to hit the pocket strong.

Breakpoint Shape: Arcing motion

COMMENTS

Likes: This ball is by far my favorite Jet ball to date. It hits the pins strong and is so versatile I can use it from light to medium-heavy oil conditions. Actually you can use it on heavier conditions with a slight surface adjustment (though that is typically not the ball I reach for on heavier patterns). This ball has an incredibly predictable motion, I rarely throw a spare ball in my game, I just use the Jet at 4000 polished abralon because I know what it will do and I tend to hit about 90% of my ten pins as a right handed bowler and that is solid 10 pin work in my book (so why mess with a spare ball). It bowls plenty of strikes too. I love this ball especially on a THS. With sport patterns I tend to shy away from the ball as a striker, but I do still use it for spares on those lane conditions. I can use it on all but the heaviest and most burnt conditions.

I can use this ball as the heavier lanes breakdown and start getting very erratic for other people. This ball actually saved my behind in a tournament last March. The carrydown was sloppy and the ball I had been using just was doing things I didn't expect. the lanes had been heavier so my Jet to that point had limited action. I pulled it out of the bag and proceeded to rattle off a nice series and the number one seeding in the semifinals. Needless to say after I won the 800 bucks, I purchased another Jet that I could save for a rainy day.

In my book the Jet is simply the most versatile ball I have ever thrown (and I have owned literally over 100 balls in just the last 3 years or so - some used but many were new), I do minor resurfacing about every 30 games and have done 2 complete resurfaces and still the reaction is as predictable as the first day I bought it. I go NO WHERE without this ball in my bag. If I only get 1 ball, this covers the largest range for me and this is the one I am taking into battle. My first Jet probably has close to 300-400 games on it by now and with mostly minor surfacing it has a few small scratches but looks and works as good as new.

Jet as a younger bowling ball company is putting out some of the best balls. They are high quality, the staff is immensely helpful, and the balls seem to last forever (I can't say that with some of the others I have thrown).

Jet listed this ball as a "mid-performance" ball on their first website. I think people tend to concentrate on what the meaning of that is. Make no mistakes there is nothing mid-performing about this ball.....On the light to med conditions, I would put this ball up against any other company's ball for those conditions. In 9 out of 10 situations the Jet will out perform them (nobody's perfect right?)

I hope people see this review and give Jet a try.....they are such good balls....

Dislikes: Nothing about the reaction or the ball itself, wish it was a brighter color at time but seeing as that won't make my game more or less effective....it is minor.
