When Ebonite bought Columbia/Track/Dynothane/AMF, was the equipment in the
old Columbia plant sold also ?

Ebonite didn't get the manufacturing equipment, it stayed in San Antonio.  Storm, however, did buy some if not all of it.  Storm had been contracting with C300 to make the Tropicals and Jolts, and they bought the equipment to expand their capacity and bring all their manufacturing back under the Storm roof.

Maybe 300G kept some of it for themselves so that they can do their own manufacturing, I don't know.

Since we're all spectulating......

It was an asset purchase.  Who says that Ebonite did not get the manufacturing equipment?  People have already said that Ebonite was continuing to run the equipment until April 8th, at which point they were going to move the equipment to their factory in Kentucky.  That was presumably to finish out the contract for pouring the Lane#1 equipment.

It was also mentioned that Storm had purchased some of the equipment to expand their production capabilities.  I wonder from whom they purchased it?

"Maybe 300G kept some of it...."  Kept some of it?  It wasn't their's to begin with!  Now, perhaps Phil did manage to buy some of the equipment....we don't know.

The press release from 300G said "300 Global will distribute and is in the midst of securing manufacturing, its own brand of high performance high tech products."  What does that mean?  We don't know.  Did they manage to purchase some equipment?  We know that they are operating out of the old Track headquarters.  It was always said that Ebonite didn't have any need/use for the buildings, so for another company to take over the payments/lease isn't unthinkable.  It was assumed that the purchase was for the value of the equipment and the names.

They will be making there own equipment.  This is not an assumption.  Nobody else is making the 300 Global equipment.

S.A. back in game of bowling

Express-News Staff Writers

Former executives of two defunct San Antonio bowling ball manufacturers are preparing to get back into the business with the formation of 300 Global LLC.

Columbia Industries, best known for its Columbia 300 balls, also owned the Track brand, and Cardinale had become an executive with Columbia.

Earlier this year, Ebonite International bought the brand name of Columbia 300 and its other products, including Track, and is moving production to Kentucky. About 100 people locally lost their jobs.

Some of those employees will be rehired in the coming months when production starts again with 10 to 20 hourly employees, domestic sales manager Eric Thomas said.

"The heritage that was in this building was just incredible," Cardinale said of starting the new company in the 40-year-old Columbia plant with some of the remaining manufacturing equipment. The first employees back will be those with a long history "who knew everything about building a bowling ball from the core to the finish," he said.

Cardinale said he expects to have San Antonio-made products for sale again by June.

"We have some of the most experienced people in the industry available to us, as well as some of the best resins, too," Sellers said. "If you add up all the experienced people and contacts we have, it would be unfair to call this a startup operation."

300 Global will be the umbrella company under which it will distribute Dynoroos, AMF300 and its own brand of 300 Global performance balls worldwide.

Dynoroos, a high-end bowling shoe, soon will be sold by 300 Global as 3G. Ebonite acquired the Dynoroos name in the Columbia acquisition, but Cardinale owns the technology rights to the shoe itself.

300 Global will distribute its own brand of high-performance high-tech products. It is in the midst of securing manufacturing for those products.

Thomas said the feedback from bowling retail outlets has been positive.

"They still want the little guy around" to keep the larger players competitive, Thomas said.

Eric,

Can 300 Global use the "Bowls the World over" slogan? It seems more appropriate now.

If you heard that then you do not have very good sources at all.  I know they are not having ebonite pour there equipment as I have been in contact with them many times.  So go tell your source they are very wrong.  As mentioned in many posts and news articles 300 Global bought the Columbia plant and enough equipment to pour and make their own equipment.  They are also going to still be making AMF300 equipment to.
