Creature Vs. 44 Magnum
« on: August 31, 2007, 01:54:30 PM »
Just curious as to how these two compare to each other.  I know rg and diff are not equal or anything nore core shape.  Just curious as to what a side by side comparison would yeild.

Creature is polished pearl resin (probably Super-Flex), RG: 2.50, Diff: .032
44 Magnum is solid/pearl combo, sanded to 2000 grit, RG: 2.46, Diff: .042
(don't recall if the 44 was made after the switch from Storm to Columbia)

My theory:
44 should handle more oil but at least a factor and rev up earlier and hook more with more overall carrydown handling - medium to medium-heavy oil.
Creature should be in the medium-light oil category, with lots of length and a relatively controlled backend.

They should (almost) be complementery balls, not competing balls.

Trust me Goof, I still plan to get your 44 Magnum first.  It was just out of curiosity for my own self.:-)  Looking for some leverage to convince the local pro shop owner that he needs to start stocking them.  He sees me throw the 44 Magnum so I figured if the Creature may be comperable he'd think about carrying them.:-)

PS.  As soon as I convince the wife to agree, I'll get the Magnum.  Hehe.

All is correct, but the Creature is a solid with a purple pearl "color".

I think this is a serious problem in color/content specification. Either find another way to name that "color" or actually say WTF the ball's coverstock's content actually is. I think this is especially essential when we have a well known coverstock and the ball is brand new and trying to make its way into people's hands.  Doing stuff like this, 'the color is "pearlized" but the ball is not' is a major laod of horse manure! and is intentionally misleading.

Almost everything I have seen about this ball has said "Pearl". One MUST assume, if you are any sort of rational being, and have any knowledge whatsoever about bowling balls that "pearl" means the coverstock has mica or similar material added whose sole purpose is to stiffen the surface tension and make a "pearlized resin" coverstock.

Anything else is illegal obfuscation.

End of Rant!

the Creature rolls much like the Crisis Solid does, drill the Creature with the same layout as my old CS ( 4 x 4 1/2) and got the same reaction. Nice rolling ball with plenty of energy left at the pocket hard arc at the break.

It is definitly weaker than the 44, more length and less overall boards covered. A fine piece for lighter oil or short patterns.
