Legends World Class
« on: March 07, 2006, 11:44:35 AM »
Picked up my World Class today and was able to squeeze in 2 games with it.  It is 15lbs, drilled with pin under ring and cg kicked out slightly (4 1/4 x 3 1/2, 60 degrees) and no weight hole needed.  Being I only had time for 2 games and didn't have any of my other Legends stuff with me, it's hard to compare side by side but here's my take: Longer than my Big Kahuna (drilled the same)and a harder arc at the back.  My best look was standing around 20 and hitting 8 out to 5.  The ball easily cleared the heads and almost seemed to lope (almost) and when it hit the breakpoint it started revving like crazy and made a hard move to the pocket.  Carry was excellent and the crack sound seemed even louder than in my other Legends stuff.  I carried high, flush and light.  I had one messenger (head pin) hit the left wall so hard it flew across the deck and demolished the 10 without even hitting the pin deck!  My games were 257 and 243 out of the box.  I was hesitant about putting down the scores because these are immaterial insomuch that depending on the house and the shot, they may not prove anything.  BUT, this is an old wood house that charlest and I bowl at where I struggle to shoot 600.  I think I've had 2 700's there all season and call a 600 a very good night.  I normally get a lot of over/under at this house but the World Class seemed to blend this all out today.  I'll try it out in league this week and see how it does.  Hopefully today wasn't a fluke.

I'll post more once I have a chance to compare it to my other Legends stuff at a couple of different houses and see how this one fits in.  Take care....JS

******************** TEASE !!! *****************

Damn !!! Ya got me wanting one now too, and I have too many balls as it is (see profile). I currently have the AP2, KONG, Big Kahuna, and the Absolute Power(had a used Masterpiece but sold it because the layout (stacked) wasn't the look that I wanted; keeping a eye out for another, though !!!)
I LOVE the Legends/LaneMasters stuff too ... and Galen (tech support) at Legends is a GREAT and patient advisor; he worked with me on layouts for each of my L/L balls according to the PAP and stats that I was able to provide to him.
I HIGHLY recommend this line of balls and their courteous and comscientious staff !!!

Ok, used it in league tonight, 9:30 shift after a ladies league.  Lots of plastic balls used so oil was pushed down for some carrydown.  I was able to stand around 22 and hit 10 to 8 for a good line to the pocket.  While other balls were having a hard time making the turn at the back the World Class had no problem.  This is the house that I usually struggle in and I was able to shoot 258 259 257 = 774.  Ball carried very well.  I think I left four 10 pins all night.

I didn't try any of my other Legends stuff tonight to compare so I still don't know how it fits in but it seems like a go longer and turn harder type reaction.  I would say that it fits under the NS2 and Big Kahuna.  The NS2 would grab sooner and have a smaller reaction in the back and the BK would start rolling much sooner and have a slightly less reaction in the back.  Great ball.  I am very happy with the Legends/LaneMasters line.

So, JS,
I'd guess that you're telling me/us that the World Class fits where we thought the Kong would?

Well, I never got one of the NS2 and still haven't drilled up the Big Kahuna.
Since I'm leaving for Nationals next Friday ...

You're way more of a "ball whore" than I am!

What, I'M a ball whore!  As they say on South Park - Whore Off!

OK, on to the World Class.  I had a chance to bowl on the US Open shot this weekend and another league shot last night.  The World Class is at least 6 to 7 boards stronger than the Big Kahuna.  On the US Open shot the WC started rolling a little later than the BK but covered more boards on the back.  I shot a 188 with the BK and 2 low deuces with the WC.  Even as strong as the WC is, if I missed my mark by 1 or 2 boards right it just kept going.  I started off playing up the boards but I didn't have any play area at all.  Playing between 20-25 gave me a little more room for error as long as I kept my speed up.  Jeff Morin (LT from PBA forum infamy) was there playing the 1/2 board and crushing the hole.  Yowzer!.
On the easy league shot, as charlest calls it, the WC was easily 7 boards or more stronger than the BK.  It lasted for 3 frames (even crossing 25) before the soft 10's started coming.  I will be bowling a tournament on Brunswick ProAnvilanes (Carolier) which are much harder and straighter than the AMF synthetics I was bowling on.  I'll see how it makes out on those.

I can't imagine how far left I'd have to stand with the Big Bang if it's so much stronger than the WC.

charlest, not true about having more money than you. I just have a bigger max on my credit cards

The US Open is suposedly flat oil; no room for error.

Jeff Morin is in a league by himself. He loves that 1 board.
