Circle Athletics Rio plastic balls!
« on: January 06, 2005, 09:28:35 AM »
Has anyone seen these? They're new to me.
I think they're spectacular looking on the website:

Hell's bells, for $36.95, I was tempted. They're $55 on Circle's own website.

I can somewhat understand why they are doing this.  Fewer and fewer bowlers are throwing 16 lb. equipment anymore.  You also have people using a plastic ball that is a pound lighter than their strike ball for added deflection on baby splits.

2 reasons off the top of my head for them not manufacturing 16 lb. plastic balls.

I have seen all 4 colors and they look even better in person.  Really neat looking going down the lane. Easy to see you revs and roll.  Makes it easy to find your spare ball on the rack.  Don't know why they opted not to make 16lbs.

theres no way THAT many people have gone away from 16#, for whatever reason, to justify not producing a 16# product.  they could at least make a limited supply, rather than just completely ignore the 16# market.

Eric,

Remember that this is a very small company, and a start-up company. This may be a test to see if people will buy enough to warrant a full weight line-up. 15 lbs is probably the most used weight right now, for pros and amateur alike.

FYI some of the new White Dot color schemes are also very good looking.

We have had circle balls here in EU for a while.
Reason: They look good, cost the same as Maxim/WD and comes
with a free bag.
But circle have something else thats better: Cheap shoes.
Were i come from, dexter is expensive. Very expensive.
SST 6 costs about 300$ in shops. Circle have made a shoe thats almost similar to SST 6 + free shoe cover for around 200$ in shops.
SST dos not sell like they used to were i come from.
