ELITE

Now that you see the pictures of the cores. What do you think of Elite?
I might little more respect for Elite, if they lower there prices. I might just accept them as a TRUE bowling ball company, if I see there balls in proshops in my area.

I don't have any more respect, because now we KNOW they are ripping people off by using cores found in the monster line of bowling balls....If they price them like a mid-line ball, then I'll have no problem..

I don't understand this part of it. Numbers are numbers when it comes to cores correct? At least that was my thinking. So the process of reusing cores is always happening isnt it? I just took a look and if you are complaining because of the cores you would also have to complain about these wouldn't you? Why is this Uranium core $90.00 more than the one on the V2 when the numbers are almost identical? I am always looking for covers, since cores are always overlapping. If it is true that elite is using pk18 then i can understand somewhat about your complaint.

Lane 1 Uranium Pearl Buzzsaw  $190.00 Internet
RG 2.45  Dif .046

Ebonite V2 Sanded Bowling Ball  $99.99 Internet
RG 2.45  Dif .046

People will pay that extra 90.00 just for the ball to say Lane 1 on it.

Well, most people say core shape matters......

BUt also, I don't throw lane 1, so that isn't a valid comment.  It's not like I'm being a hypocrite.  ANd besides, the cores are the EXACT same thing, and if the R43 does in fact have PK18, that means they're trying to sell a monster bruiser (which can be found new on ebay for 40 bucks) for 160 dollars....THAT is what I am complaining about.  Not the fact they are reusing stuff, the fact they are severly overcharging, and using propaganda to make it look new and amazing.

I see the reusing argument as a reason to not want to buy the elite, but if you go to Brunswick and say "We want to make this ball with coverstock X and core Y" they are specially making the ball, regardless of what choices are made.  The special order of the ball is going to make them cost more.  Isn't this similar to the old thread on here about having Big B make a special order ball?  That ball would have had an older coverstock and an older core and odds are it wasn't going to cost the same as a ball in the current line as it's a special order.  Yes if Elite is making a ball with the Monster/BVP core and throwing PK18 on it and charging as much as they are, its a rip.  If they charged the same price as a Monster Bruiser lets say, they would have no chance to make money.

Dan, that was actually Bobmatt and I who were planning that (fire quantum core with activator) but never had enough interest.  And actually, the plan was to sell them at cost to everyone who wanted one.  We weren't trying to start a business, we just wanted to have the balls and needed other people to buy them to fill the order out.  And actually, if there is still enough interest, I'd still want to do it.

And if I was just going to sell them for money, I sure as hell wouldn't charge 160 bucks for them, unless I was drilling the balls for people or something.

Andy, I know that was you guys doing that.  I was just saying that these balls are being sold to make a profit.  I would assume that if they didn't charge that much it would be a huge loss.  BTW, I'm still waiting for my chance to buy the Backdraft.
