KINETIC - Official Thread
« on: December 25, 2008, 03:13:30 AM »
Hello all,

I thought I'd start a thread that we could answer any questions about the company and products.

As you've seen already the current ball is the Solaris. Its a low RG, medium differential core - its smooth and revvy and coupled to the strong pearl cover makes it easy to get to your breakpoint with a strong dependable move off it.

If you have questions about us in general post here. If you have questions about getting hold of a ball, email us directly on enquiries@kineticbowling.com

We're working right now on getting the website online, we'll let you know when its live.

Merry Christmas all,

Dave W.

i have recently been experimenting with filming myself. I would be glad to show a video of this ball when it comes in and I get it punched up. I would do the video of this ball at 2 different locations.

I am going to do a video of all my equipment and post them up. Hope I can get some tips on flaws in my style as well when I do it.

Hi all, a couple more short video clips of the Solaris for you. One from the same angle as the previous preview posted and one close up at lane level to give some idea of the reaction I'm getting from this ball.

Just a few things ..

I have a comparison video similar to the one linked to above. I won't mention the ball here in case its taken the wrong way, although needless to say i think its a fantastic ball otherwise i wouldn't have one, but you never know.

If you'd like to see the video, its 45 seconds so its 2.8meg, PM we leaving your email address and i'll send it.

It was mentioned that we may have a ball ready for release in about a month. There must have been some crossed wires, and although we will be producing new equipment, it won't be quite that soon.

Glad to see the Solaris suits so many of you, thanks for the positive feedback! =]

How is Motiv like Brunswick? I thought they produced their own covers and cores for their bowling balls?

This is valid question, although I have answered it to an extent earlier in this thread.

We are bowlers, we are not rich business owners moving into the bowling market, and we are starting out in a tough economic time. We simply do not have the huge amount of money needed to wade into the market trading blows with the likes of Storm and Brunswick on the R&D front. That will hopefully come in time, success permitting.

We think it's much more sensible to start by working with an established and respected company with plenty of experience, and get proven technology and a high performance ball or two out there first, to show that we know what a good ball should roll like, and to pave the way for expansion of the R&D side of the business.

As far as the core questions and the rehashing opinions go, we notice that some bowlers seem to believe that if a core shape is similar in 2 balls, they must roll similarly. You can't tell core densities from a graphic. The numbers of the balls in question are different, and the balls will roll differently. The covers of the balls are different, making another difference in reaction.

We start with an idea of what we want the ball reaction characteristics to be, and what lane conditions the ball needs to suit, then the specs of the ball are decided upon, then tested and tweaked until the ball is ready for production. It's far from the random or chance process suggested by terms such as 'mix 'n' match'.

I realize that people can be dubious about the quality and longevity of new companies, and can understand if they want to reserve judgment. So until then we must try to impress via developing strong product lines, innovating, and demonstrating our experience by helping bowlers improve their scores and enjoyment of the game. Those are the things that as bowlers, we know we must work on, not our ability to pump out enough marketing to sell a new ball every month.

In the meantime, we must rely on (and thank!) the bowlers that take a chance on us, and especially the ones that help our cause by remarking when they do have a positive experience with our equipment.

We just want to put ourselves in the position to be sitting here a few years down the line producing great product. Since we bowl too, we're not going to be making anything we wouldn't throw ourselves.

I'll not turn this into a long winded post by going on any more. =p

Feel free to keep asking any questions, i'll do my best to keep answering.

Dave.

Dave, we put holes in our first Solaris last night.  First of all, it has all the shelf appeal you'd ever need in a ball.  It looks great.  Second, it's got that great "crack" of a dedicated reactive pearl when it hits the pocket.  We utilized a double thumb drilling on a long pin second.  This ball is not the second coming.  It won't place a 20% better scoring guarantee for some stupid gimmick.  Just proven cores underneath great looking and performing coverstocks.

Finally had mine drilled today. Only had a few shots with it after to check that it was comfortable etc, but was very impressed. Looking forward to bowling with it properly.

And it looks awesome too.

I am waiting for a Solid to come out and I will try it, I have alot of pearl stuff already simply adding another strong pearl to the three i have already doesn't make sense to me. I would like to take Primal Rage out service and replace with say a Solid Solaris when it comes about.
