« on: July 12, 2005, 03:21:56 PM »
Is the Kong going to be a stronger ball in heavy oil?

Got any specs on the Kong so we can speculate?
All we know so far is that the ball supposedly will exist sometime.

Well they got the rg down a little for the Kong but the diff is also down a hair according to 123bowl.com so guess have to wait and see how much of a cover there is on it to see if its stronger than the guaranteed.

I was told by a Legends staffer that the Kong will be a smooth and even rolling ball.  He told me that the Absolute Power 2 will be the biggest hooking ball in the line and that the New Standard 2 will be close behind.  The Masterpiece will supposedly be Legends go long resin ball.  Only time will tell. Maybe they're saving the big hooker for the King Kong!

In this month's Bowler's Journal they had a little tease shot of the AP2 and the NS2 with a part of the core in the picture.  No info though.  It looks like the AP2 core is the same shape as the current AP but the NS2 is different, something like a squashed bowling pin. Take care....JS

will the AP2 and NS2 be "replacements" for the current models?

In response to the gentlemen that said explain. I have a buddie whom team i bowl on and all he throws is lanemaster. He has the guaranteed. I watched him throw it. The center where we bowl at use kegel oil, and the oil pattern is typical house shot. The ball does not hook until 45feet down lane. I thought to myself that why is this ball pushing so much if its an oil ball. So i threw it, and im a high rev player. The ball push threw the heads very good gets to late mid-lane and then begins to hook. Its not the drill because my buddie is a low rev high track player, so most of his drillings have to be strong so it won't push to the break point. It just the ball. Bill from Buddies ProShop explains that the ball is a medium- heavy oil ball not just a heavy oil ball. In closure i fill that the ball is a transition piece. Not a bad ball. Just not for only heavy oil though.

With a heavy load of diamond particles and a 400 grit finish, I wonder how it cannot handle heavy oil. But each to his own.

I have been using these balls for a few weeks now, and the real Gems are the AP2 and the Masterpiece.  The NS2 is very nice as well.  I had my kong drilled up Lable Leverage, and I regret that now. I have 2 more masterpiece and AP2's on the way.  I love the guaranteed.  I would use it before my kong.  My kong goes a little longer than I would like...

My favorite ball of the new releases is the AP2.  The the masterpiece for a lighter oil shot.  The "Excellence" to be release later in the year is the best Medium oil ball I have.

I am going to get another kong in a few days and drill it stacked lev.  I think I will then get better results..

LanemasterLefty,

Until we actually know more about these new balls, like core specifications and how the new coverstocks compare to the current ones, your descriptions are sort of out of context. We, at least, I, who own 2 Absolutes, 2 New Standards and a Yeah Baby!, have no sense of what these new balls do or are. We/I have no reference points.

Hey  anybody ever heard of the Super Carbide Bomb hooks in oil. But if i was playing in true heavy oil i would rather have a ball that has heavy roll than a ball that hooks. You know some people swear they are on staff but they are not, or that they are Fred Borden, but there just ordinary peole we don't which way to go. I was throwing the Guaranteed in the third game ball pushed throw the heads really good sets up in the mid-lane explodes like if it was that man that caught R.Kelly in the closet on the backend. Now after all that i still say Guaranteed is not a true heavy oil ball.

Is the Yeah Baby stronger than the Guaranteed in heavy oil?  The Guaranteed was supposed to be a good heavy oil / flood ball.
