I was hoping to use the newly-drilled Torment on the Open pattern laid down in my home center, but did not get a chance to use when they had the pattern down. I did get to use it on my house pattern which has Brunswick Anvilanes, using Twister Pins and a new Kegel Oiling machine. They use Infinity oil applied 28’ with buff out to 40’ similar to the USBC White Patterm, slightly modified is the best I can describe it. On this pattern I was able to play up around 8-9 board at 40’ and was able to get the ball to the pocket rather easily. The Torment is drilled 60* x 5-1/2” x 35* which places the pin above the middle finger and the CG ½” right of the grip centerline, ¼” above the midline and no Weight Hole. Box condition is 4000 abralon, but I took it down to 2000 abralon with an old’ish pad which is probably around 3000 abralon.
I was surprised at how much this balls hooks on the backend for a ball which for me I would not think it would backend as much due to such a long pin-to-pap for my style(5-1/2”). The ball had very easy length and pretty aggressive backend recovery, which is good to see but I was hoping this ball would be my go-to ball for the Open Championship in May as a ball that would be tamer at the breakpoint.
I may tinker with the coverstock for now, maybe apply some polish to see what type of look it has. My home center is suppose to apply the Open Championship pattern down one more time before I leave to bowl it, so I will report out then. For those of you who know my reviews of Lane Masters bowling balls, in comparison the Torment for me performed very similarly to the LM Buzz Attack which was a benchmark ball for me for a very long time.
Overall, a promising addition from Lord Fied Bowling.
