Ultima RP Review
« on: July 17, 2009, 07:56:18 AM »
Specs=Pin over bridge, MB out 1 inch, OOB Surface.

LakeShore Lanes: Easy THS, Synthetic surface and relatively new also. I started about 3rd arrow and went out around 7-8 at the BP picked up around 44-45 I would say. Strong arc on the backend nice and flush hit Carry was pretty good, created quite a few messengers for a ball that is 8 or 9 years old. As the pattern broke down I moved in and found that I had good recovery from almost anywhere nice hold if yanked on it also.

DICK WEBER OPEN PATTERN: I was lined up during practice with my Awesome Finish but once we started I lost it completely, tried Pure Tactics Way to much, Ravage VII not enough, but noticed that the inner part of the track had some pop to it, grabbed the Ultima RP went about 17 at the arrows out to ten (2nd reaction marker) ball made its move right their and crushed the pocket. Stayed with it the rest of the night after a terrifying 14? the first game I rallied 170 with opens in the ninth and tenth the second game then 206 clean the third, tied for third after three games. By the end of the third Ultima was way to much I been bumping for two games eventually finding myself going between the 6th and 7th arrow and out to 12 at the bp but that started setting to soon and I was forced to change balls.

HIT/CARRY: To my surprise their is no filler in the ball and it does have a little extra POP in the pins it seems. Their are messengers when needed and it holds its own against the newer gear in my bag.

REACTION: Strong arc not very snappy which surprised me goes it does have a good polish on it. On medium condition, wood or synthetic surface I have the ability to open the lane up, but must be careful not to go to far right with the BP has it will not make it back up the hill. On lighter conditions I have all the area I would want or need Great choice for a ball down from the Pures. Covers few less boards than the Ultra Radical Pro but Ultima is a touch later and a little smoother.

OVERALL: Great, I really didn't know what to expect when I got this piece but I am glad I got it NIB. It is a machine, nice and consistent when all the new stuff hooks off the map I can still cover boards with it and be in better control of the reaction. It nailed down a spot in my bag that had been vacant for quite awhile, the not quite  dry lane but not quite oily either spot. This one will be in the bag for quite awhile!

I am sorry you can't be like me, Only someone as jealous as you would bother to make a comment like that.

Junior Why don't you post the review of your Remote Control ball, I am sure that should just about make up for all the mistakes you make throwing the ball right? god forbid you be accuarate, that is only what the Sport is based on.

do not listen to the noise from the cheap seats, it will  only distract you from the task at hand. LOL. I too, have a recently drilled Azo Ultima Pro Magic, it is without a doubt one of the sweetest, smoothest, arcing, hard hitting balls that I have ever thrown. I own about 18 balls and this one is ALWAYS in my bag. Ken

PS IF, when you decide that you are not quite up to the task, it is ok, be jealous
