NS2 drilling?

Hey all of you Legends in your own right. I have a NS2 drilled for length and am considering having it redrilled.

If you have a NS2, let me know how you have it drilled about how it works for you?

WHy did you drill it for length? (honestly)

As such it will handle only medium light oil. It is designed to be a control ball, when drilled normally, (use your favorite drill), for medium oil and medium oil only (depending on your ball speed and rev rate, OF COURSE!)

Legends/Lanemasters balls have this interesting quality: Almost EVERY one of them exactly and precisely mimics the drilling and the ballspeed/rev rate proportion you apply to the ball.  You'd think all balls do this, in direct proportion, to the factors manipulated, but they don't. Some do and some don't. Almost every Legends/LM balls do! (So far, I am only unsure of my Masterpiece; all others exactly so what they're told/drilled/released to do ... so far.

My pro shop guy and I kindof had an argue about the drilling and he won. I had spoken to Galen(I think that was his name). He had suggested doing a 4x4 layout with the pin favoring the lower half of my ring finger. Well, my PRO convinced me that the length would be a better drilling for me.

I am a high speed, low rev player. This is something I am trying to remedy, would prefer to slow down, but I guess 21-23mph is natural for me.

Have been skidding past the breakpoint and the ball just hasn't been finishing as strong as I would like.

Really, I didn't know that about the sand paper. I used the red pad before league last night and it didn't read well at all. Will have to try the sand paper. Now are we talking spinner or by hand? I have access to a spinner and use it to clean after every three games and for any surface tweaks.

I really think my speed is a big issue right now, I am planning on working on slowing down my ball speed and release this week as mush as I can. Got a feeling I am muscling it.

Ball Death, Thank you for your help. I really don't feel like having it redrilled even though I know the PRO would do it for free. Sanding it is, will do that this week and let you know after some practice. Best test will be leagues next week, hard to find a condition like that any other time.

I did the whole sanding thing last night, and it seemed to make a small difference. But I am sure that the lanes weren't what they are like for leagues.

I am currently trying to change my style. The most drastic change I can make, but also the most worthwhile. I am trying to throw with a cupped wrist and  put the drop back into my approach. I usually just swing my ball out from waist high and back. But I am try to reinvent my free arm swing. The whole cupped wrist thing is quite hard on my arm right now, but after a week or so I should be just fine. Hopefully have some hook in my ball too.

Sounds as if you should have listened to "The Master" at LEGENDS (Galen); I too am a hi speed/low revs bowler and for me, he said that I should try to keep the pin at finger level or below (of course, he always considers my PAP of 4 3/4 and 1/2 up.
 I would call him again and speak with him a bit more; you can "glean" all of the well-intended advise that you want in here, but he's you BEST BET !!!

I'm not going to have anything done with my ball other than surface tweaks right now. I am going to have my Dynothane Thing Lives redrilled in the mean time. But I am going through a style transition and will have to see how it works out. In just my practice last night using a cupped wrist, I noticed that it was hooking better, I believe most of my ball reaction is do to poor mechanics and less to the ball.

Now I do plan on having the ball redrilled after this season in the summer and really get used to my new style in a summer fun league. I will contact Galen before I redrill it, or just go with his original suggestion.

I'd strongly recommend AGAINST re-drilling any ball (except maybe an old test ball) solely because you're in the midst of too many changes with your release/delivery. Change the surface, because it can always be undone, but until you're well and truly settled with delivery changes, any re-drilling of good newer balls can trun out to be very wasteful. Been there, done that- been very sorry. First things first. Good luck!

Thank you and your right. My Thing Lives just feels awkward right now, but I think  with alittle thumbhole work, it'll be fine. Need to concentrate on my changes before I go anywhere. I guess there is a good chance that there will be PAP changes due to this release change, so I guess you are right about no ball redrilling at this point in time.
