Pyramid balls

Does anyone throw pyramid equipment? Opinions? They are starting to catch my attention, but I am hesitant to move away from mainstream companies. Possibly looking at the Dark Path, but the video for bowling ball.com make the ball look like it is holding back somehow... And idk if my pro shop will order it in

A buddy of mine was throwing the orange and gray Chosen Path when he subbed for us last year. The ball looked adequate, but it didn't do anything that really made me stand up and take notice. That's not to say it's a bad ball by any means, just that it didn't stand out over anything else I was seeing thrown. If you really want to try something new and different, go for it; however, just be warned that, from my perspective, you aren't necessarily going to be getting anything you haven't seen before.

I know a guy that has been throwing the pink and green Chosen path for over a year. He seems to like it, but I haven't seen anything impressive with it either. Just seems like another ball...

I have 2 of the chosen path lime/pink balls, one drilled pin down, and one pin up. The pin up ball is the biggest hooking ball I have ever thrown, from any company. Both seem to carry well, have shot a couple honor scores with both pieces.

They are not anything crazy special, but a quality ball for a good price. They take really well to surface adjustments and the carry and overall reaction seems to be on par with other companies.

this...I took the plunge and ordered it (my first pyramid ball)...a super performance ball for about $30 bucks less then competitors top shelf stuff...plus if you pre-ordered you got a cleaning kit

I too am intrigued with the Pyramid brand and am thinking of getting one to try. Some good deals and by the look of things, looks like any other ball out there from the big companies at a lower price. The new Blueprint looks awesome.

Mine arrives today!  Chosen Path.

Specs remind me of a Zero Gravity.  I have seen one also in our house and it looks like a cleaner coverstock Zero Gravity. 

Of course I have seen some Zeros polished up and they move similar once higher grits and polished are applied.

We will see....

First impressions. 

It comes back! 

As a fan of slightly lower flare balls, I was not sure how a lower flare high intermediate differential would react, though I had seen videos of these balls and some Zero Gravity's around town.

My impression in detail is that this ball has a coverstock that reminds me of the old superllex from Columbia.  Weaker than the Zero Gravity cover!  In my mind that is good for my house and the push I seek.

Picture an old Ti Messenger Solid with the angularity you can produce with a strong mass bias position!  This is my first impresson.  Still tweaking coverstock (weakening) coverstock to not be so deep.

Angularity without the Jump of my JB Taboo!  Drilled exactly the same!

Well, wow!

This is the angular but somehow smooth version of my Jet Black Taboo which is just beautiful for my wet dry top hat.

I have had good sets with my Mission X pin way up version (Jason Couch drilling 1.5 pin buffer!).  6 pins have often been a problem.

But this pin up slightly version now 2000 with polish is just sweet.  No 6 pins,  I had many balls that struck and struck well today but this one just owned the pocket and the carry.  Many walked by and were quite impressed with area and carry!  I joined them nothing was close.

Surprisingly I may try it at just 2000 or just 3000 no polish!  I believe the ball might have originally been shipped in its used condition 1000 and had tremendous recovery but little push.

I will report back.  Oh my....

PS a Weighthole just above my VAL and deep taking the ball to 0 side weight was a surprise to me that it still allowed so much reaction.  Often weightholes in this spot lead to little recovery for me and a fairly straight up the boards play!

I had the orange smoke chosen path.  It was the strongest ball I had ever thrown for about 100 games.  After that the ball became weaker and weaker. Performed numerous oil extractions and resurfaced, but no luck.  If I put a fresh 2k surface on it every 3 games it still rolls good.  Awesome core, but seems to suffer from early cover death.

But my Dad still loves his green pearl chosen path.  He shot his second 300 with it tonight.

I have no idea of use on mine.  The Videos of the Green Pearl Chosen Path make it look even bigger in the back than the two solids...

I wonder how many games my used one had....he wouldn't tell me anything!  But, I like it!

PS at a seminar they noted dirt AND oil as the problem.  That the dirt clogs the pores and stops absorbtion.  They sold me the Adrenaline wipes.  I am afraid to use them except on some really old dead stuff, on my wet dry house shot.  Probably will soon!

Does any one have any more updates on their Pyramid Equipment. I see that have new one coming out, Blood Moon. I am interested and giving it some thought. I thought I'd see if anyone has any updates.

Asking me a question...OK, I'll give my very best answer.

Pyramid balls?  Well I am now the owner of 3 Chosen Paths(lucky me I think).

Solid, Pearl, and Hybrid.

The Chosen Path core reminds me of the Zero Gravity Specs and core shape sort of!
The move of my Solid which I have a little more than a month of experience with is very similar but I perceive the coverstock as a little weaker!  It reminds me of Superflex from say a Ti Messenger solid.  The ball move is really sensational but I may be forced a little too deep to carry sometimes.

Like all Solid balls in this house unless one lofts the ball about 5 to 10 feet one is forced a little deep and then then hopes for a bunch of backend.  My ball which is used with an unknown amount of games seems to have  softened slightly on the backend recently.  However I often have a big game with it early in a set.  I don't doubt my Adrenaline wipe will revive if it has softened.

Yesterday I tried out my still illegal sideweight Pearl Chosen Path!  Oh my!  Not only is this ball sensational looking but incredible performance looks like it may be coming as I get this thing on the lanes with a legal setup.  This thing really hooks!

The Hybrid, I don't have an idea.  Yet.

Over the next two weeks I will know a lot more.  I also picked up a BW Legend and perceive the core and cover as a lot stronger.  What this necessitates is setting up weaker in my strong wet/dry house.

Bottom line I am not sure if assymetric solids are the answer to this house but I have often thought that assymetric pearls and hybrids may be.  The core in these balls are appealing.  Longevity of coverstock I will be exploring shortly.

i noticed they have increased prices on balls...i thought that was their whole marketing, top tier balls that out do the competitors top ball prices
