Looking at the website it says OOB finish is 4000 abralon...I just received mine today and it says finish is 1000 abralon. Anybody know why this is?
-
my info from Ryan is it is 4000 no buff, they tried 1000 abralon but it was way to strong. I asked the same question when I first looked at them upon arrival, here is Ryan's response to my query.
Quoting ryan@seismicbowling.com:
Steve,
The surface if 4000 but with no buff. The buff is applied after the logos go on and
we decided to go with no buff for the more aggressive look! its the same finishing
process after sanding as the Mega Friction.
Originally we had been thinking of going with 1000 finish but after testing we decided
it was just too strong, and went with 4000, but left it unbuffed to allow for that
little extra friction!
As a side note, all the balls we tested with no buff looked the same, and all those
with buff looked the same! So we decided to go for the agressive look :-)
Let me know what you think once you get some drilled up!

Steves,
We made a last minute decision to go with the 1000 finish, and the website description is a Typo I'm afraid... sorry for any confusion! We are having that amended now.
After chatting to some top international players in Europe we decided to go with the 1000 finish to give that "little bit extra" on longer and heavier patterns!
If anyone requires any advise on adjusting the surface please feel free to email us,
Cheers

I tried using mine yesterday during the 9am squad at the States and standing on 35 and crossing 4th arrow I still hit the 2 and 4 pins smack in the face. This ball is strong! Anyone looking for an oiler need to look no further.
I'm going to try mine at 4000Ab with and without polish to see what reaction I get before I decide how to leave it. Then I may buy another and leave it in OOB as a tournament ball and for the Shark pattern

just got mine. It does look really dull, and it says 1000 abralon on the box. Can't wait to get it drilled up tonight, very good looking ball.

so, in the first viewing video of the Requiem, was it at 4000 or 1000?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipDG4YZCtWY
Also, teknekk quoted Ryan saying..."thinking of going with 1000 finish but after testing we decided it was just too strong, and went with 4000"
then Ryan posts a little later saying..."We made a last minute decision to go with the 1000 finish"
So, I'm assuming that the ball will be at 1000 OOB, and not 4000. And, in
reference to that, is the ball in the vid at 4000 or 1000?

Gunny,
Yeh sorry I gave Steve a bit of a bum steer... We had been thinking of going with the 4000, but having spoken to some players on the European Tour we decided to go all out with the max!
The ball in the video I believe is the 1000, but I will check and confirm. We are in the process of editing some more videos for the website which will show reaction with several different cover preps.
Hope this clarifies things a little!
