Motiv GT1 -- first impression
« on: May 16, 2009, 12:07:23 AM »
Just got one punched up yesterday.  Only got to roll it for 15 mins on a left-over cheetah pattern.  Pin above ring finger, CG kicked out slightly.  I am a slightly high-tracking 18 mph tweener.  First impression--man, this is a bowling ball.  Though the pin is up and the ball is a (slightly polished) pearl, rolls early with a smooth, strong hook that doesn't quit.  The roll into the pocket is like nothing else I've thrown.

Used a few hand position changes and the ball seemed to respond well.  Seemed strong, yet very controllable.  Will post a review after some more games with this ball, but first impression is extremely positive.  I am telling all my bowling buddies they need one of these in the bag.

I think we will need a Motiv forum sooner rather than later.

Could not agree more.  Mine is 4X4 no XH, puts pin above ring with CG almost in line.  Used it last week on Cheetah.  Smooth, no loss of energy.  Used on THS shot too.  Still, no loss of energy whether I play straight up, or go 20 to 5.  Very impressive.

On Cheetah, used the TX when the shot broke down in games 3 and 4.  That was even sweeter.  also 4X4 but with pin down.  As long as I stayed outside 5, it rolled smooth and strong and finished strong as well.  I'm only a 182 average league hack, but shot over 800 on 4 games on Cheetah, including a 268.

I would recommend these balls to anyone who isn't bowling in a flood.  From Med. to the shortest and lightest, they are money. If I had more hand, I bet the GT could handle the long and heavy stuff as well.

Another vote for Motive forum here.
