Seismic Releases for Bowl Expo
« on: June 07, 2009, 06:35:40 AM »
Just got some teasing info from Ryan, just enough to make us all wonder what is coming. To be unveiled at Bowl Expo,
Epicenter, a strong pearl reactive with our brand new INSIGNIA asymmetric core, I have no other info at this time, pics and core numbers to be released later in the week, will post them as they are made available.

The Desperado may be the first ever Asymmetric core ball in a totally urethane coverstock, We think this could be THE ball for short oil and dry lanes everywhere!  The power and carry from a premium core, but with a urethane cover. Should also be on display at Bowl Expo to be released in the coming months

just quoting the e-mail I rec'd from Ryan earlier in the day. I see way too much oil for a urethane cover.

As for the First Asymmetric Urethane, I believe that honor go's to the JPF Black Axe and most recently Slate Blue Pearl Gargoyle.

I don't believe the Slate Blue Gargoyle is asymmetric, at least it has no marked mb, but the Black Axe was asymmetric without a mb marking. That Axe was way ahead of its time.

Here is a link to the Blue one, but the weightblock shape was the same as the Black. http://www.bowlingballreviews.com/ball.asp?ballid=270

That EPICENTER sounds pretty interesting. Strong pearl asymmetric, HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.................

I know what you mean but I have always dreamed if MoRich or someone would have tried a Strong Asymmetric core in a hard Urethane shell, it would have been the best dry lane ball of all time

That's exactly what we are doing

Several members of our staff play a lot of international tournaments, most of which are now played on the long and short patterns.  For a long time we have thought that there really needs to be a ball designed specificaly for short oil, rather than just having to use weak low end equipment which dont roll as well or carry as well as high end equipment.  We have designed a ball that will roll like a premium priced ball, with a brand new asymmetric core, but give less traction to the lane than even weak reactives.  This ball won't be for players want HOOK, but for players with high rev:speed ratios, or for anyone playing light or short oil patterns, we feel this will be the ball of choice!

In the 2008 World Mens Championships (where 2 of our staff took part) nearly everyone who made tv finals on the short pattern was using urethane or plastic.. all the urethane balls were at least 10 years old... we feel that the DESPERADO will be THE ball to use at the 2010 worlds!

I should add that although the Desperado will have a premium core, we are pricing it at a sub premium price so that it should not be too much of a punt to choose to splash out on one

Hey Juggernaut, click on this and read the description, I doubt Buddies would post bad info: http://bowlingballreviews.com/ball.asp?ballid=2088

I wonder when people understand that "asymmetrical" does not necessarily mean "high mass bias...?". The Gargoyle core is asymmetrical, just like the Tropical Storm core system, but its mass bias is low.

Besides, I think Brunswick's Phantoms also were urethane balls with dedicated PSA exploitation through an enhanced and marked mass bias?

The MB on the Desperado will be around 0.016 so the effect will be noticable!

At the moment the Epicenter is set for release mid to late July, but we will confirm in a few weeks.  The Desperado will be a little later in the year,

Cheers
