Slant Solid - Mini Review Part 1
« on: July 05, 2011, 10:06:55 PM »
Used the Slant Solid over the weekend on a medium oil shot, 40 ft buff high friction wood surface. It just flat out hooks, more ball than was needed for the pattern. I found myself a good 8-10 boards left with my feet of where I was with the Slant pearl, my target was also substantially left which was expected. The Solid version sports the same core as the pearl, but a much stronger cover, which lends to more friction , more hook and a very very strong back end, more angular than I had anticipated. I tried to throw it through the break point on several occasions but was not able to, it bit and recovered from any angle. The Slant Solid is not for medium oil unless surface prep is being considered, the cover is just too strong! It appeared to me the motion is similar to the pearl just much stronger, more mid lane and more back end. The Slant Solid is best suited for heavier conditions that would include longer oil.
