Hot water baths

How is giving your ball a hot water bath? Has anyone had any success with it?

Yes, it is a good way to restore some of your ball's hook by removing the lane oil the ball has soaked up.

One method is to use hot tap water, not so hot you cant put your hand in.  Use a small bucket, just bigger than the ball.  Put in a small amount of Dawn or any other grease cutting soap, start adding the hot water and place your ball in after the Dawn gets mixed up and before it gets over a quarter filled (the ball takes up a large amount of volume).  Let the ball soak for about 10-15 minutes, remove and wipe off, repeat as necessary.

I have had great success with it, recently i just bowled a 255, 225, 219 after putting my ball in the hot water bath.

i just take to the battub with me saves time ez to soak and found good way to keep water out of thumhole.

Question back to the group...do I have to worry about finger inserts?  I don't care about water getting into the holes, but, I obviously don't want to have to replace my inserts everytime I give my ball a bath.

I've never had a problem with my inserts getting wet, but some people do cover the holes with waterproof tape.  I also do not plan on using a ball that has been soaked in hot water for a couple of days, to give it time to dry.
