Which ball is stronger?

Storm Lock vs DV8 Grudge
Not sure where I should put this since this post involves two different company's products. I've done some research and it seems like these two balls are the strongest out there right now in terms of diff, rg, and coverstock. Each has its own perks, but I'm asking everyone which in general offers more hook and does better in heavy oil. They do seem pretty close, but I need something that hooks hard due to my low revs. I've also been told that the Alpha Crux hooks more than the Lock, but statistically it seems like both the grudge and lock hook more. Currently using a Hammer Bad Intentions Hybrid.

cant speak to which ball is "stronger".  that is such a relative term.  some think that means more backend, some say that means covers more boards.

what I can tell you is that the Lock has been my heavy oil ball this year and it has been awesome.  used it on 3 different heavy oil sport patterns. there was one that was 43 or 44 feet long where on the fresh my lock struggled to the turn the corner as hard as I would like.  by the 2nd game, it was golden.

I have left my Lock at the OOB surface.  I know several that have taken theirs to 2000 or even 1000 for an earlier roll.

the grudge and alpha are both solids, so they will probably turn the corner a little sooner.

Comparing the Lock to the Alpha Crux I think you will see the Lock cover more boards in the back of the lane as compared tot he Alpha Crux which will try to hook earlier.  Just because a ball might hook more on a particular condition doesn't mean it is the best ball.  It will depend on what type of reaction you need for the shot you are seeing.

Early rolling high end pieces can hook less than other pearl-like reaction balls from the same line.  But on heavy oil, you may not need to cover the most boards, just get the ball in the proper roll.

With low revs I would lean more to an earlier rolling ball like the Alpha Crux or Grudge.  At least I think the Grudge is an earlier rolling piece.

As others have said, "stronger" is really tough to define. Are you looking for the ball that will dig into the oil the hardest and avoid wiggle, or are you looking for something that covers boards and offers a lot of movement?

Of the three balls mentioned, I've only thrown the Grudge. The Grudge is middle of the road for me in that it digs in nicely to the oil, but that doesn't sacrifice all of the backend. It's not flippy by any stretch, but it doesn't lope off the spot either.

I've seen quite a few Locks in league and tournament. To me, that ball looks super early at box finish, which is great if you want a ball that digs in hard in the oil. As for backend, most of the Locks that I've seen don't really boom all that much down the lane.

Lastly, I've seen 1-2 Alpha Cruxs thrown. To me, the Alpha appeared to be a smidge cleaner up front and a bit stronger down the lane compared to the Lock. Now, that goes against what spmcgivern has reported. I'm not sure how much he has seen these two balls compared to what I've seen, so you'll have to decide what you want to go with there.

In the end, all three are strong balls. I can tell you that I REALLY like my Grudge when there is enough oil to use it.

Having saw the 2 in question thrown by the same kid it's just a matter of what kind of hook. Out of box the grudge will be stronger just from the finish. from what Ive witnessed the grudge is earlier with a rolling move that's more predictable where as the lock had a more defined move was little squirly after oil moved around. Personally for me I'd go with the grudge of the 2 since I prefer the more controllable hook
