I like everyone on the show.....don't like Ryan Shafer that much, style-wise, but I got to go with the Roto Gripper, Tommy D !

I may have missed this in another post, but who made the show?

Sigh...
Going into round of 16 it looked like there could have finally been a Mack vs PDW matchup. Oh well, next week....

Lizzi had the roughest time out of the winners. He was using a Big Blue hammer and he switched to the Power Deisel for the last game. The Deisel looked better to me. For a while I thought he was using an old urethane hammer.

Good to see Tommy D made it. He's a friend of mine back in Flushing, NY.
I bowled with Ryan Shaffer in a Pro Am tour years ago. Was a nice guy, don't remember anything else.

I don't know anyone that likes Shafer. Nor do I know anyone who's actually met him. They just don't like the way he looks. He is one crazy looking joker.

The truth is out there somewhere. And it looks a lot better through the bottom of an empty pint glass.
If you had your face burned in a fire, I'd like to see how you looked. (Maybe on 2nd thought I wouldn't.) He is one of the nicest guys on tour. Like all PBA guys, don't interrupt himwhen he's bowling, but afterward, talk to him and maybe you'll change your impression based on never having met him.

I'm very happy that Jeff Lizzi made the show. It might be the only way we ever get to see his wife and sister-in-law again.

The crowd will be pulling for TD right from the start. Let's see if he can get that Roto-gripless stuff to work a bit better than the last time he was on the show...

Congrats the Patrick Healy, Jr.,.....he's been on fire lately since he signed wiht Storm, I think he's cashed the last 4 weeks.....anyhow.....
The pro that most resembles me on the lanes style-wise....(now if I can only execute like him, I'd be set !
)

jeff was done, he needed to switch to a blade and play straight up
I disagree, if you've been watching the strike pass, the "C" pattern for some reason causes a lot of hang way outside. So in my opinion, a pearlized ball for Lizzi will not work- considering his tendancy to throw it too fast. He could have just slowed down his speed and just took some of the hand out of it. It looks like he actually tried it too, but it didn't look like he was very comfortable doing it- causing some of those splits. Anyway, Lizzi looks pretty solid, so i wouldn't be suprised to see him back on a show sometime soon.
CJ again made a good show on television. he just got snakebit.
Healey had such a good look during the whole telecast. It looks like because of his speed... his ball would read the oil pattern the best.
I have to add, though... how lame was the crowd? It didn't seem they were very enthusiastic to be on tv.
well thats what I saw at this show.

I've never heard the story.
You've got to admire the hell out of the guy.
I do for all people injured in the face who go on to success in the public eye!
Big heart big cahonnes more power to them.

PS I'm starting to like his bowling more and more as he appears to be just getting better!

I know just what you mean, SL. It's just like bowling a lefty.
On the lanes, you hate their guts 'cause they can't bowl fer crap, and they still beat ya! Off the lanes, they can be the nicest guys!
Sorry, I couldn't help myself...

You can't fault anyone for trying to keep a mental edge and win. Just like in the NFL, you don't see Ray Lewis, Warren Sapp, etc.. acting the same off of the field as they do "when the lights come on and the whistle blows." Athletes have to get pumped up and adrenaline will win championships when nerves will lose them. That's a competitor's edge. I bowl in many tournaments in the Dallas, Texas area as I reside about 60 miles outsie of the metroplex. I have bowled in numerous tournaments and/or high stakes pot games with Chris Johnson involved. He is another one of those guys that is a pleasure to talk to off of the lanes, but when the shoes are laced up, he is mentally tough. That has helped him already this year in his rookie season on tour. As for the strength of ball CJ needs? I have seen him throwing a plastic ball over the gutter caps around 35 and flaring to 10 with no problem, when oher bowlers were still in solid or pearl resin up 15-20. The kid very seldomly will need as strong a ball as he was using this week.(Deuce) In closing, all I can say is try putting on the shoes and having to bowl for $40,000-$100,000 week in and week out for a living and see just how fierce a competitor you become. You can either be the hunter, or the hunted. Adrenaline and control will beat out nerves everytime.
