2025 Staff Changes
« on: November 27, 2024, 01:34:36 PM »
Well, it is that time of year when staff changes will happen.

Anyone have ideas/thoughts on movement of players?

With the new 'manufactures cup'--could see more movement IMO.

Rumor mill--former player of the year will be moving over to Utah brands........

For me, it is just something to 'talk' about. I don't care one way or another, because I think everyone makes good equipment personally.  Sometimes these forums are a bit boring and this is just something a little different than the normal ball review.

This thread comes up every year.  So it should not come up as a huge shock.  There are always people who care even if you dont.  For me it really depends on who we are talking about.  If someone said "Tim Foy is leaving "x" company to move to "y" company.  I would not care in the least.  But in the case of AA; it is somewhat intriguing since he just came off a decent year and was the MVP of the league.  I am curious as to why MOTIV did not try to keep him (sure SPI offered him more cash).

Nothing major has been 'told' yet--eerily quiet IMO.  Does anyone know about the new urethane rule coming the first of the year?

Yet another urethane rule? In addition to the rolling 2-year rule and the 78D rule, and the ban rule?

Bradl---from what I've 'heard' a new rule will be in effect--not sure what it is. Storm has a level out and no one knows what it means--I think it means the playing field will be equal, again that is my speculation.

So not here to break news as these are out there, but there's still more coming

Kevin McCune to Roto Grip
Justin Knowles to Roto Grip
Frank Snodgrass to SPI
Ethan Fiore to Motiv

On the team shuffling from one "team to another" at B7 for Tour/Battle of Brands, grumblings of the following
DV8 will be all two handers, you'll see Cam Crowe with DV8
Brunswick adds Nate Stubler
Ebonite gets Jacob Buttruf and Jake Peters

And I believe a few announcements might not hit til the Battle of Brands Team announcements, so I'll leave off at least one bigger one in respect to the companies/person

Staffers chase money and most casual bowlers think its equipment.

Motiv didn't see the value in keeping him and if they don't think he is worth the money to make sales its an easy business decision.  Storm keeps a large tour lineup and many can get lost in the crowd. AA maybe one of those to fade into the background.

Quite frankly; is there really anyone that can help push MOTIV balls other than EJ?  It might take Simo or Belmo but think Belmo is starting his decline unless he just had a down year by his standards.  Neither of them is going to jump the Storm ship and head to another company.  AJ Johnson wont move the needle for them.  At least Anderson has a Player of the Year to his credit.  EJ is still relatively young (32).  So he may have another good 7-10 years before he starts to decline.  So MOTIV can lean on him for a while yet but curious to see who they slot behind EJ in the coming years.

Years ago (early 2000s) Brunswick cut a huge staff down to a few big names and some unknowns mixed in. The tour is shrinking and for many it maybe not worth the $$$ for the limited exposure and possible sales. Motiv may realize as long as EJ is healthy and making a fair amount of shows that spending more $$$ is not creating any bigger a return. Less maybe more in their case.

Wasn't my news to break but it's public now, Matt Russo to Motiv.

And on the AA and Motiv discussion, SPI made sure they got AA, wasn't Motiv not wanting him.

Russo leaving was definitely not something expected at all
