balance hole

   To add more lenght to a ball were should a balance hole be placed?

I'm not sure you're asking the right question.
 
Weight holes CAN be flare-neutral, flare reducing or flare increasing. They don't affect the length a ball gets. That is the surface: finer surfaces let the ball go longer, duller or rougher ones hook earlier.
 
When a ball flares affects what happens to the ball when you use either a flare reducing or flare increasing weight hole.
 
Polished balls tend to use that flare later down the lane, while dull or matte finished balls tend to use that flare earlier or throughout the ball path. So a flare reducing weight HAS THE POTENTIAL to allow the ball to hook later and less.

I don't agree with this.....a P1 hole will reduce the overall diff, thus reducing flare, which will cause a slower transition from skid to hook...aka...more length. Even Mo said it himself on bowlingchat...."And, yes, a P1 balance will increase the length by reducing the diffs. of the drilled ball"

Never said I disagreed with that. As a matter of fact, I agree 100% with your statement....I disagreed with his statement that the flare has zero effect on length.

You're ignoring the rest of what I said. It's where the flare is used by the ball that is affected. Flare affect on the ball's path depends on where the flare is used. Since a polished ball flares more towards the backend, a flare reducing hole will affect the dull ball MORE than the polished ball. That weight hole won't increase the length of the polished ball; it'll just reduce the backend. It CAN increase the length of the dull or matte finished ball.
