2nd Greatest Lefty ever on PBA tour
« on: October 28, 2008, 11:11:41 AM »
I am throwing Earl Anthony out there as the greatest lefty ever.
It's hard to dispute that, 41 titles later.

I'm watching some Youtube videos of Mike Aulby and Parker Bohn III and I can't decide who I'd rank as the second greatest lefty ever.

I lean towards Parker, but Aulby won more Major's and was so good in the clutch, beating Parker for a couple of title's even (1998 Masters, 1996 TPC).

Let me know what you guys think and throw some more names in the discussion.

If you haven't guessed already, I'm a lefty myself.

To me it's Parker. I think he's the best lefty on the planet.

I would agree that bowling alone would be EA but with everything else that Parker is involved in for bowling it would be him.

Lefty Hawkins from the early 1840's back when the PBA first came alive on ESPN.  The guy was cranking particle pieces from the cap to the other cap and winning the Lumber Liquidators titles like no other.

I believe he once won 13 tournaments in a row, before he got bored and started bowling right handed...

I like Parker but to me Mike Aulby is the best.

With him I'll also take Steve Cook brother-in-law and Johnny Petraglia cuz he's a Vietnam Vet.

Jason's body of work cannot compare with Petraglia's, PB3's, or Mike Aulby's.  Couch has a TON of game, but he's not in the same class as the other lefties.

I love the Scott Devers reference!
Go to the match that were talking about and put a dark hoody and a mustache on Stayrook and tell me he wouldn't resemble the Unabomber.

Aulby could play the whole lane as well. Both Aulby and Parker were/are extremely versatile.

Earl Anthony is number 1...

I'd take Parker Bohn III as number 2, and at that a CLOSE second. I know he's several titles behind, but he's got tougher competition than Earl Anthony did as far as I'm concerned.

Also, look at the man's form! He's by the book, and a lot of people criticize lefties for having strange form. I think we can all agree there is no one out there with better textbook form than Parker. On top of the game, he's got the heart, he's a great guy to hang around, loves the game, and does anything he can to promote the sport.

In third, I'd say it's a tie with Jason Couch and Aulby. Couch really is great, whether people agree with me or not.

Also, since we're already talking about lefties, I don't think he's anywhere near the tip top of the list, but I think Patrick Allen is an underrated player. He's a pretty nice guy and he's got a nasty ball motion. (nasty being good)

i remember scott had a lane in his basement...jess the unabomber, i can see it in my mind lol.
scott looked like my drunken right handed uncle trying to bowl left handed almost.  he couldnt walk a straight line either. yet he won 4 titles lol.

in all seriousness id go PBIII too for 2nd best.  aulby is close too.

Mike Aulby, in my opinion, is the second greatest lefty ever in the PBA.  Parker Bohn III is a close third.

Why is Steve Cook not being mentioned?
