Pete Weber...
« on: May 29, 2009, 09:18:41 AM »
I just watched the 2001 Greater Louisville Open on ESPN Classics. Pete Weber beat Norm Duke and Mike Haugen in consecutive matches - 260-227 with the back 8 against Norm and 289-279 with the front 10 against Mike. My question is, why wasn't this considered the record for most consecutive strikes on television? I believe the record at that time was held by Paul Koehler with 16, which was still regarded as the most until Ryan Shafer had 18 in a row himself in 2007 I believe. Can anyone shed any light on this??

I said the most CONSECUTIVE. Of those 32, Bob never had more than 14 in a row I believe

Don't worry, it's on the Tour Scoring Records page, just after the TV 300s list.  Pete and Shafer are both listed with 18 in a row.

That is one of my all-time favorite shows.  Pete is an absolute monster.

Forget throwing 18 strikes in a row. As unbelievably impressive as that is,

SEASON SINGLE-PIN CONVERSION PERCENTAGE
100%, 475/475, Walter Ray Williams Jr. (2005-06)

Is by far the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen

I agree on the single pin thing.Wow.

CDB managed to break the consecutive strikes in a row thing with 20.
I'm drawing an absolute blank about when - but it wasn't more than 6 weeks ago???

I can not remember the name of the event but I believe it was the one with the scoring system Johnny Petraglia invented.  It was low score wins based on the number of balls thrown per frame, a strike was one point, pick up a spare 2 points, if a split was left and it took 3 balls to get all pins 3 points was given, etc.

I dont count CDB as she did it on one lane and not on a pair.
