This is kinda old news regarding the now-defunct changes that the USBC was proposing. Dynothane has a web page and presentation up at http://dynothane.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=91&Itemid=54. At the end of the presentation, they say

quote:

(Provided the PBA, which is not USBC sanctioned, adheres and it is possible that the PBA will not endorse these changes.)

I was under the impression that the PBA was also sanctioned. At the end of all of the broadcasts during the credits there is a line like "Sanctioning provided by ABC" (well, all of them were before the changeover). Anyone know if PBA tournaments are actually sanctioned?

A friend of mine bowls PBA Regionals and his ABC card was included in the price of his PBA membership. He and I both understood that to mean that the PBA is ABC sanctioned. Although we could be wrong.

PBA events are not sanctioned by the USBC and do not adhere to any of their rules. The PBA does have their own set of rules that govern PBA tournaments.

The last I heard, the PBA was not sanctioned by ABC or certified by USBC. (same thing, different terms). Their rules are stricter, and more encompassing than the USBC.
