since the 2007-2008 pba tour has reached the halfway point and the players take a two week break for the holidays i thought i'd reflect on what we've seen thus far:
1) despite being 48 years old, walter ray williams, jr., is having the start to a career type year. he leads in just about every possible statistic( or is second ). based on how the pba calculates the player of the year, if the 2007-2008 season ended today he would be player of the year by a landslide.
2) several notable players have had off-years thus far or haven't even appeared on the radar screen. there have been some who have been injured( norm duke, tony reyes, jason couch, jeff carter ), there has been at least one who has been ill( patrick healey, jr.), and there have been others who have not had the type of success they had last year( doug kent, tommy jones, pete weber ).
3) the lefty vs. righty debate does not appear to be over as the leftys were nowhere to be found early but have been doing well as of late.
4) i enjoyed seeing the women compete and hope there will be womens professional bowling soon.
5) the pba and espn need to overhaul the time slot for the telecast and seriously think about their choice of broadcasters.
if anyone has any other topics pertaining to the tour so far let's hear them.
