A newfound respect for Randy Pederson....and the PBA Tour

Alot of you all got so caught up in the tenth frame and Randy's frying out over the fan that distracted him that I think everyone missed probaly one of the greatest moments I've seen on the show in awhile.

Before the match Randy clearly stated that he did not have a reaction at all and that he was clearly lost against Duke.  He even mentioned that Duke struck on all of his shots and he was visibly shooken going into the match.  Even with all of that pressure of a possible exemption and the 100K, Randy stood up and after a bad shot in the first, he stood up and delivered great shot after shot(not counting the 3-10).  I was so amazed at how quick he saw the transition on a 51ft pattern, and got dialed in to give Duke a run for his money.  That is such a true testament to Professional Bowling and is such a good example of how much better they are than us.  That's probaly one of the best matches I've seen on TV since Duke vs. Devaney(the match after Duke shot 300 on Walter Ray in 2003).  

Would anyone else care to comment on this?

Well, Randy is # 62 on the money list:

That doesn't hardly look like enough to support a family!  I'm sure he makes more than that announcing!

I wonder how RANDY's TV bosses are thinking relative to his antics! If I were them I start thinking about how it's going to be when he starts interviewing people and how viewers are going to accept him? I think he was VERY FOOLISH! He made a great shot had a fantastic game and blew it all trying to make an excuse for losing! FAR FROM PROFESSIONAL! DUKE was just the opposite .. there's a PROFESSIONAL!

Yes, I do.  And that is why I am not doing it.  Does Randy have any idea of how hard it is to stand in front of a jury for a living and work 70-80 hours a week for less than what he makes on tour and with his announcing...cause that is what prosecutors do...or work 60 hours a week at a 8.50 an hour job driving heavy equipment...or ....

The point is that Pederson is in the entertainment business and in what we hope to portray as a sport.  He is marvelously gifted, far beyond anything I could ever hope for.  He is a tough, seasoned competitor.  But he is not a class act, or has not allowed himself to act like one when the lights have been on too often.  You can say what he did is understandable (though not nice to Duke, or the TV audience or the audience who PAYS to watch him bowl) but there is no way to condone the behavior or call it anything other than offensive.  In my opinion.

Randy could probaly top that $25k he made in one night of Action Bowling in Jersey if he felt like it.

I hardly think he's "struggling"
