Is it possible that the difference is how well known the bowlers like Weber, WRWj, O'Neill etc are, rather than the fact that they are not gay? Pluhowsky has not been on TV very much, and this was Scott's first time.
When John Nolen won the 2009 Masters, I don't recall anyone mentioning his spouse, GF, BF etc.
We did hear about Tom Smallwoods wife, but that was an integral part of his story about how he was able to make the tour.
When Belmonte first came on the scene, did they show his wife? No they did not.
I don't see where you think this is a double standard. If Scott Norton does as well as I suspect he will on the tour, THEN if they don't cover his partner, that will be a different matter.
quote:
First off, for a lefty, Scott throws a heck of a ball. I was very impressed with the poise he showed on TV against a guy like Rash, who, despite his recent mental faculties, is a proven champion who was on a 3 game win streak.
Second, it is absolutely ludicrous that every time WRW is on the show, they show Paige. On the Viper show, they TALKED to Mrs. O'Neill. Any time that PDW makes the show, you best believe that they're gonna put Tracy on screen almost more than the guy that Pete's bowling.
But when Shannon Pluhowsky is on the show, they don't even mention that her (absolutely gorgeous) girlfriend is sitting in the crowd offering her partner support. When Scott was on the show, I've come to understand that his partner was in the crowd. Wouldn't have had an idea of this unless someone told me. Heck, apparently they even exchanged a hug, and Rob Stone (most likely directed to do this by producers) called him "A friend".
Now in my leagues, and at tournaments I compete in, my partner of 5 years comes and watches me. He is greeted with respect and courtesy as any bowler's spouse would be treated by my team mates and other teams on the league.
The fact of the matter is, his sexuality had nothing to do with, just like mine and my partners has nothing to do with my bowling. It's about showing that Scott, Shannon, and their partners each have the same validity as Billy O's, WRW, or any other bowler on tour.
