abc senior masters

the shot that's being put down for the 2005 abc senior masters doesn't look too tough. for more info go to www.pba.com and see what i mean !

went to event details and didnt see it. Unless you mean its "easy" because the scores are high I completely missed where the shot was posted.

i meant easy by the scores. frank deremer shot 825  his first three games and 1,311 for his first 5 games of qualifying---a 262.20 average. yet, the pba's website stated that the oil pattern put down for all major tournaments are "abc sport compliant". although i could find no oil pattern for this tournament i doubt there abc sport compliant with scores this high.

No one has ever shot an 825 or averaged 262 for 5 games on a sport shot?  The dude who took the Singles title last year at Nationals shot, what, 850+?  That's a sport shot.  Don't forget, too, that there are easy sport shots and hard sport shots.  Even in sport bowling, not all shots are created equal.  It's possible that this was a sport-compliant condition that was simply easier than some others.

Or maybe the guy just bowled his @ss off.  Sometimes that happens.

yes, there have been 800 series shot on abc sport shots---but they are pretty few and far between. many of the competitors are shooting the lights out. dave soutar, who is in 67th place at the moment, is probably the greatest grind out bowler in the field. if the shot were truely tough he'd be near the lead---as he has in past years when the shot was really hard.

One of the guys bowling the tournament happens to be a teammate of mine on my sport shot league and my Monday night fall team- he's currently sitting in 11th place after the first two days of qualifying. He's yet to bowl on the fresh oil shot (that will be tomorrow)- and from what he told his son who I talked to this evening in my league, the higher scores have been shot on the fresher oil pattern. I would definitely think that this isn't a sport shot pattern, as 3/4 of the field is averaging over 200 and the top 10 are averaging at least 235.

Which ones?  The Masters is sport compliant.  Nationals is as well.  Maybe the Senior Masters is not, from what y'all are saying.

Bill is technically correct.  The National Pattern is not a certified sport pattern.  While it may be sport compliant, the ABC/USBC does not certify it as being one.  The Masters pattern, however, is a certified sport pattern, at least that's what the description on the PBA web page says.  I have no clue what the Senior Master's is using, but it certainly doesn't look like it's a sport shot from the scroes.
