Ace Hardware show - SPOILERS
« on: December 03, 2006, 04:04:34 AM »
Anyone else enjoy the house/PBA shot comparison?  While there's a lot more that goes into making a pro shot hard, I think they really managed to boil it down to something that was easy for most people to understand.  For a three minute spot, I thought it was pretty well done.

Balls:

WRW: Morich Awesome Revs
TJ: Overtime, looked to be drilled label but couldn't see the MB

Malott: Power Machine
Shafer: Thunder Road Pearl ?  Looks very, very angular.

Yeah, I liked the House Shot segment.  Just kinda wished they had made Randy throw one ball with a breakpoint of 4 or something, then one at 8 and show how both end up flush.

Ball update...
WRW may have tossed a polished Awesome Hook for his first ball...

Final match -
Malott changed to a Heat in the 10th in his first match and continued using it in the final match.

Jones switched to a Smashtime Pearl.

Wow... You'd have had to see the final match to really appreciate how it unfolded.  That was unreal.

Smash, you have to like Wes.. Come on think of the emotional rollercoaster he is one right now. Son is sick last week ends up winning it, comes back this week makes the telecast. Has to bowl his roommate for the title match. That right there is stressful enough!! (Just look at how Tommy DIDN'T celebrate much for the win)! He throws a bad shot and pays maximum for it with the 7-10.

Overall neither one of them threw it very well in the title match. Then again they are bowling on a wood surface that they don't bowl on much!!! Lane break down with the balls, lights, people in the stands, etc.. is much different then on synthetic

Shafer had a Special on the rack, but used the T Road Pearl the whole game.

I was definately disappointed to see Wes get beat.  I thought he bowled well and is fast becoming one of my favorite bowlers.

He may have switched to another T-Road Pearl with the pin above his middle finger later in the game.  One was definitely pin under bridge though.  As for it looking very, very angular?  In Shafer's hand it has no choice with his amount of axis tilt.

mvp bowler, if i were bowling my best friend for the title match, i would be a little more laid back.  I would rather see my best friend win it than anyone else on the tour.  He didn't even really give congrats to jones, and walked off the set and kicked something on the way.  he lost it for himself.

I haven't seen it on TV, so I can only go by what the commentators said, but it really turned me off of TJ (more) when they mentioned that he doesn't like to lose so much so that he doesn't play if he doesn't think he can win.

Smash, you took that the wrong way. Look at TJ's expression. Several times he mentioned that he lucked out today! Just to be in that title match he lucked out, then to win it was even a blessing!!! Wes felt like he threw it better today I am sure. He did give congrats, TJ didn't say much either.. Neither one of them at that point in time were feeling much other then let down and disappointment. Yea TJ was a little more upbeat because he just won a title. But neither if you were watching, neither had much emotion after that 10th frame!

I personally HATE Wes, cant stand anything about him.  The pulling the thumb out b4 his approach, the way he complains about a bad rack on a horrible shot, the way he pouts & whines when he loses.  I just dont like anything about him, never have.  I bowled with him in a couple tournaments in texas b4 i was old enough to be all that good, & even then he annoyed me.

As far as TJ throwing a bad shot & getting the max penalty, IMO, ANY time u hit the pocket, u shouldnt leave a split.  A 10 pin, 8 pin...ect fine, but not a 7-10, thats just a horrible break.
