Title: age......no problem
Post by: DON DRAPER on March 06, 2007, 12:23:23 PM
pba.com mentioned that pete weber became the oldest us open winner at the age of 44. the tournament that was the forerunner to the us open, the bpaa all-star, was a grueling contest of 100 games, not the 50 or so of todays tournament. andy varapapa won the all-star in back-to-back years in the 1940's when he was in his 50's............

Lacquer and rubber with ball speeds of 13-15.  Lower arm swings, full rollers, not moving deep......more of a release game then now........equipment one ball that's it.  Different skills involved.  Guys could roll balls ad infinitum.
