If you didn't like that match today something is wrong with you , Michael never quit like some of us would have done , he was behind by 53 pins at the end of 5 frames he didn't have a double had 2 opens and strings 6 in a row and sure didn't look like any senior to me. He has great heart and I hope to see him again real soon. He lost one a couple years ago also great match to PDW , Michael bowled a 260 something and lost , he is very capable and seems to be a great guy my hats off to him great bowling when he had to talk about pressure he had it on him and came through

I love watching Haugen bowl.  His release is VERY similar to mine.

Dont get me wrong, I dont dislike the guy, he seems nice enough, but watching him on TV just does nothing for me, I feel like I'm watching a senior event...

So guys that throw banana hooks are the only ones that make for exciting shows?

ill be the first to tell you that i hate the way ryan shafer bowls, but you could easily tell that he had been sick this week. I would like to say congratulations to haugen and i would also like to congradulate ryan for such a good week while feeling horrible, looking at him after the second match he looked like he was sweating bullets and never seen that that much when he was on tv before. as for chris barnes, not only is trust a must but spares are a much or your games a bust. thats why i suck at bowling.

I don't think it was so much that Haugen won, it's how Barnes lost. Let me join the others in saying that I'm happy to see Haugen win not only his second title of the season, but also the second title of his career and his first MAJOR!!! That alone speaks volumes of this man. However, let's be real and understand that he didn't have any light until Barnes whipped the ten pin. I was thrilled to see that Haugen didn't give up. I was also disgusted to see how Barnes lost all mental composure at the end. He had Haugen dead to rights until the 9th frame. I think the condemnation comes from people stating the obvious in terms of Barnes rep for mental breakdown, others blindly defending him and then watching actually do it yet again even as the commentators talk about how great a bowler he is. It gets aggravating to see and hear. His attitude after losing sure doesn't help either.

This match proved that you should never give up.  Haugen was always trying to figure it out and he fought till the end.

This was one of my favorite things to witness this season.

I think he deserves alot of credit. Many bowlers would have quit. He stuck with it. That is what bowling is about. There are many, many lessons to be learned by that match.

Funny I hadn't heard someone pipe in how after the first strike on the left lane after the ball change Michael carried some really ugly strikes there. He had some room and some luck. Sorry I know most don't like it, but I couldn't stop giggling after the match. I have a total funny spot for the bad frown face Barnes puts on after he losses. You probably could have fried an egg on this one. I think he should break out his wife to bowl the finish of games for him.LOL

That show for Chris Barnes was like getting a woody and run out of skin.

That's probably because we were all watching a different show than you.

Hey Charlest, no offense meant here but you could have left Chris Barnes off of your topic title & just said "How about some praise for Michael Haugen."  Don't get me wrong, I love your posts & replies because I think you have a lot of knowledge in this sport of bowling & are a great contributor for BallReviews.com.  I think what a lot of people are seeing here is a trend w/Barnes.  ANd he did have a 53 pin lead at one point.  I liken it to watching football.  I love the Bears & think some of the players have choked on their team when faced w/a little pressure.  Now I'm no Rex Grossman, and nowheres near a pro QB, but I can still watch & know what a QB is supposed to & not supposed to do.  Taking no credit away from Haugen, one can still say Barnes choked.  Haugen did not give up & rightfully should be commended for that.  At the same time, Chris Barnes is a real good bowler who can be great.  I don't consider him a total choker, like others have eluded to, but I do believe he did choke this last match against Haugen.  Credit Haugen for being in a position to take advantage of that choke.

I met The Rat when he lived in Vegas a few years ago, nice guy always in a good mood very accurate and can hook a ball some if he needs too.

He plays his A game almost 99 percent of the time, but when the lanes were fried he was able to play inside of 4 th arrow.

The only odd ball thing about him is he will sit and talk with bowling balls before using one, very funny to watch and listen too.

I find it interesting that everyone says Barnes blew it. You have to bowl 10 frames to complete a game. Haugens game was no better, just in reverse. Congrats to Mike. He demonstrated what I keep trying to tell my son when we bowl in adult/youth. You can have bad frames and still do OK. I enjoyed every minute of the match.

Chris Barnes in my estimation is a very talented bowler as most bowlers are at the PBA level. It is my hope that he indeed sees the writing on the wall so to speak, and maybe considers working on his mental game. Friends have worked with Dr. Dean Hinintz and revolutinized there ability stay in the shot cycle and be focused to give themselves the best possible chance to execute under pressure. These bowlers I speak of have pretty good physical games but there mental toughness is very apparent and I believe this is what sets them apart from those with similar talent physically. His book (FOCUSED FOR BOWLING) is a must have for all bowlers seeking mastery of the mental aspect of our sport. You can find it new and used on Amazon and other online bookstores. Chris Barnes if youre reading this (life is a journey we can turn lemons into lemonade)Keep Your Head Up!!

I have 4 of his old Buzzsaws.  This may explain why I sometimes have trouble with them.  I'll have to ask him what it is he says to them I guess.  (I, on the other hand, often talk to them after using them.)
