Scroggins is nicer than you know. Little story ...
We had been "bowlers" for six months when we took a short trip to Amarillo. We walked into Western Bowl and both Mike and Mark were in the pro shop. They spent a lot of time talking to us as if we actually knew something about the sport. They looked at our equipment and gave us some tips on how to get the next one drilled. They didn't try to sell us a darned thing. Both of them were patient and personable.
Mark had the West Texas A&M team practicing that night after the sport league. He told us to come by if we wanted to try a sport condition. When we showed up, he gave up a pair of lanes for his team practice and revised his session to a different part of his program so that we could have a pair of lanes. I shot my first ever 200 that night, and he and his team made me feel like I had just shot a 300 on a sport condition.
Since that time, we've met and bowled with numerous pros, both active and former. While most are nice, only one has come close to the Scroggins brothers, and he's now our coach.
By the way, "ugly" is no reason to hate.
