Anyone want to bowl the Hammond PTQ with me?
« on: October 20, 2006, 01:55:05 AM »
For those who have never tried one of these, they're a really great experience. Last year, I got my butt kicked around on the Viper pattern. This year, they're putting out Chameleon, so things are likely to be tough again. Still, I'm really looking forward to it. At the very least, I want to bring home a check this time around. Is anyone else interested in bowling or coming out to watch? The PTQ is held Wed. Nov. 15 at around 8 or 9 in the morning. It would be great to hook up and talk to or bowl with some fellow ballreviewers this time. Let me know if you plan on going/bowling.

I'll definitely be there no matter what...hopefully bowling though...that Stardust is holding a qualifier on the 5th I believe for paid spots into the PTQ...so I'm gonna give that a whirl...and hopefully earn a spot

Gene, Hammond is a stone's throw from where I grew up(Lansing and Cal City).  Wednesday's, however, are a little tough for me to hook up with.  Great idea, rotten timing.

Let it bleed. Good luck with the qualifier. A few years back, I won an entyry into a regional event that was held locally through a similar event. It's awesome to get to try something like that basically for free. Be sure to let me know how you do in your bid for an entry. In any event, though, we'll have to make sure we find time to hook up and say hello. It's always nice to see fellow ballreviewers.

230,

It's too bad you won't be able to make it on Wednesday. That's OK, though; you can come by Thursday or Friday, or just wait to watch me on TV Sunday : ) Didn't I tell you? I plan on winning the whole thing. I mean, it seems pretty pointless to go if I'm not going to win. Seriously though, my goal this year is to grab a check. I hope that I am able to do so by finishing as the top amateur, but any check will be acceptable. I didn't fare too well last year.

So guess who won one of the free spots...that's right...SunStorm300 (ironically not throwing a Sun Storm)...I believe he finished at +109 for 7 games to take 2nd overall in the qualifier...they gave away two spots...I beat my head against the wall attempting to throw more then a double...my first 6 games ranged from 190-203! Consistent!...before trying about 4 different lines the last game...and a 163 to finish -48...so I will only be in attendance ...nice shooting today Kevin!

If SunStorm's bowling, I might give it a shot.  Now I just have to come up with $300 and get some time off from work!

The non-member meeting is tonight. It is kind of pointless. All they do is tell us what we can and can't do, can and can't use, can and can't wear. If you've done one of these, there really is no point to going to the meeting, other than finding out who you're crossing with (which often changes anyway) and what time you get to practice the next morning. Oh well, mandatory is mandatory.

Last year, it was cool because a lot of the exempt guys were already in town practicing, so watching them attack the pattern was kind of neat.

Anyhow, thanks for the well wishes. I hope that I can represent the ballreviews.com crew in fine fashion.

I had a decent look, but not much carry today.

I feel I bowled better than the scores indicate.  A couple bad breaks: (2) 4-10s and an 8-10 in between strikes cost me a lot.  I haven't bowled a PTQ since the regional a couplr years ago in Merrilville, so I don't think I did too bad.

Early on, I had a good look but could not carry to save my soul. Later on, my look went away and my spare shooting became an absolute joke. I mean, I've struggled shooting spares on tighter patterns before, but this was just ridiculous. Don't get me wrong, I didn't throw nearly enough strikes to be a factor, but my scores would have been respectable if I would've made the easy stuff. I had a good time, but it was a very disapointing performance.
