Russell and company...
After reading this thread I had to chim in about what a "league" bowler said to me a week ago after our league.
the oversite to him is basic cranker with a bad release, if you could call it that, and averages about 200.
So after said night and seeing him struggle and talking with a few of my teammates, i overheard him say something about the lane condition. So i said "whats wrong with the lane condition?" ( its second shift ) And his reply was "well, the shots always different week to week.." this week his ball was hooking very early.. I said well I can help you get your ball down the lane a bit farther. And after saying something about extending his arm at the end of his release.. His response was, well when i do that, the ball just goes straight...
So we went back to talking about the lanes, and I said seriously whats wrong with the lanes... And he said again the shot is always different. And i replyed with " well a "good" bowler should want that " and he gives me some grumbling about how he doesnt mind a different oil pattern or amounts of oil as long as the "shot" is the same..
And continues on about another bowling alley he has bowled at before, and said, well i can go in there monday - sunday and the shot is always the same.. doesnt matter if it's heavy oil or light oil, the shot is the same, and I always know where to play.. I come back with " yea and thats why you have House hacks averaging 230+, and when they go someplace else, they struggle to hit 200"
So this past weekend, they had the first week of the city tournament, and the "GM" changed up the shot a bit lol.... And i see said guy totally stuggling and I dont think he broke 500, for any of the 3 sets he bowled.
I guess it just makes me laugh a bit, cuz I can tell the guy wants to bowl better but doesnt want to really have to work at it.
