barnes choke artist chokes again *hack cough CHOKE*
« on: March 06, 2004, 09:19:16 PM »
He has been on tv so many times so he can't blame it on nerves its not like he's a rookie on tv.  His facial expressions are great when he gets tapped it looks like he's about to cry.  So all we can say is that he's a choke artist.  Himelick manoover!

Actually, he just flat out sucked.  "Choking" would imply he missed a crucial shot, but today, he was just flat out bad.

Just don't say that he's bad.  Being on TV 7 times is very impressive, regardless of how he chokes.  I'd also love to have all his money.

Well, his ball wasn't helping him on the left lane either, it wasn't rolling up, it was hook/setting.  Looked like it was burning up too much energy at the breakpoint.  I'd say something about it being a typical Brunswick ball, but I don't wanna get yelled at . . .

Gotta agree with Hamster...

the ball was burning up too fast and crapping out in the pocket.  After buying an Ultimate myself and experiencing the same thing I think Brunswick's NEW Inferno isn't quite as good as the other three.

Barnes DOES have a TON  of talent though maybe some bowlers were meant to finish second.  His "prick" attitude seems to catch up with him when he needs a strike.  He'll learn and then he'll win in my opinion.

I don't understand what people refer to as choking.....in your terms , you must choke every week in league,(all of us make a poor shot or 2 during league!) because to you , a bad shot is a choke ?!

A choke is a bad shot UNDER PRESSURE, a MUST HAVE strike or spare, AND THEN throwing a really poor shot, that would be a choke.

I'm not a Chris Barnes fan AT ALL by the way.........just chiming in here.

I will say that he makes some poor shots on TV though !  And, by no means am I "good" ...but let me tell you one thing....sport shot, pba shot, whatever, ...I would NEVER throw plastic at a bucket...

...but that's me....

All that being said...Chris Barnes WILL have his day I'm sure, he's 'sick' talented!

I probably don't know what I'm talking about (shocking! ), but Barnes always seems to use pretty much the same release.  It's a great release, one I wish I had the ability to develop, but sometimes it may not be the best release for the condition.

He seems to leave an awful lot of 10 pins that other guys carry on the same shot, and he doesn't seem to have any room for error.  It's tough when you have to be perfect on TV.

Double D's much-less-sophisticated release worked a heck of a lot better yesterday than Barnes', IMHO.

that's a great point seadrive, .....CB usually uses that up the back cup/collapse...every once in a while you'll see him come around it just a bit...
but usually it's the release he was using yesterday...and YES, ...a LOT of 10s

Barnes must be doing something right to make TV
so many times.  It's grueling to get thru match play!

Choke or not, I just love to watch him lose. I cannot stand the guy at all. Am I saying he sucks? No way. When compared to WRW's first 6 years, they both are pretty close if not identical. Why doesnt WRW get heat for being a "choker" or anyone love to see him lose? Because he is a great guy on and off the lanes. Barnes is not and is a total prick in person.

I just wish more people would understand the difference between a down right bad game, being beat outright, and a choke.

It seems he always has the same problem in the finals. Either the ball burns up and quits or it recovers nicely and hits like $h1t. To me brunswick equipment doesn't seem to match up with his game. He tends to set the ball short (no loft) with revs and brunswick balls tend to roll early. This is a bad combo. But then again, he's made 7 telecasts!

While I agree with Ragnar, I also agree with Sikxer.  Rick Benoit had been working with him to increase his midlane reaction, but I think that's the last thing he needs right now.  He's got too much midlane.  Brunswick just doesn't LOOK like it suits him, although you can't argue with getting to the show so many times.  I think he'd work much better with Storm, honestly.

He could have went to a Raging Inferno then that Ultimate Inferno. Raging would have worked better the the Ultimate was. It would have hooked more into the pocket then the Ultimate was.

Maybe Humbaba is still paying him back for talking mess at Roth in the shootout, nah!!!, just like Dave Davis,Marshall Holman and WRW the bad run on TV will end then the tour will be under a world of hurt!!!, with breaks on the show a 5-6 title year is staring him in the face thats 200 large plus right there, add a major(or 2) and the money record comes into play, it's just a matter of time.....

Its not about choking. How many tv and second or third place finishes does WRW have? Its just a matter of time before the breaks start falling his way. The man is there in your face damn near every week.
