Okay, forget about the rest of the matches, the only one that matters is Chris Barnes vs. Dick Weber.
I'm not a member of the I Hate Chris Barnes club by any means, but I really, really, really, really would like to see Mr. Weber spank Barney to make it into the round of 32.
Go get 'im, Dick!

I like D. Weber but he is overmatched at this time of his life bowling Chris Barnes. He is a legend and great for the sport but I still believe this was a token exemption. They should of had a Dick Weber tribute and had him come and visit the fans all this week. (Pay him too.) No offense to the legend but lets get some players that still have a change to win for the exemptions.

Bowling is for sissies..ask Bones...

Chris is in a tough position,..Mr Weber is the home town Icon for sure,..and guess what..? Mr Weber can still play,..this ain't no cake-walk for Chris,..and he knows that. Didn't Mr Weber win a regional or a sr regional just recently..?

As great as Dick Weber once was he has no shot at all of being in the tv finals. That would mean he would have to beat barnes and 3 other touring pros to make it and I don't see that happening..
His game is just not suitable for todays conditions. I am hoping he does well as well, but don't see him even beating Barnes.. That would be a huge upset..

If they only made a ball that would carry that da_n 7 pin (and I am right handed!!)

Don't count the old codger out yet. They're bowling on A which shouldn't force him to play any particular part of the lane. He'll be able to play where he wants to - which means the frozen rope might be in play. If he gets lined up I won't be surprised to see him do quite well. Make the show? Probably not - but there are longer shots in the field.

As much as I like Dick Weber, I don't think he should be bowling in this tournament.
1. What does he have left to prove?
2. If Barnes wins, people will expect him to have won. If he loses, people will say he was not very good and he should leave the tour.
3. Tournaments like this are for the young and the current crop if bowlers.
Yes, it would be fun, but only if so much were not at stake.
It just seems inappropriate to me.

Barnes up 1-0 just an update.

Dick Weber, I think, does have game left. He bowls some one-hit Senior regionals (with the new format) and even won a few in the past couple years. He can strike when he needs to, but is not bowling today because he cannot live the "tour life" anymore. He will bring the game he is known for but Barnes still has my money.

Ya the Big Dick lost to Barnes 4-0 but to all you old man Weber haters....read this ----> http://www.pba.com/regional/regionstory.asp?ID=710
Now tell me if Dick wasn't on pattern E at this stop that he might have killed many of his opponents. There is not many better on E on the gutter than Dick. Look how he ran away from the field in Mn. this Sept.
Some may say ya but this is against Sr. regional hacks...well look down the list boys. Denny Torgeson of BTM/pro shop fame is NO hack and either is Bob Glass Sr. player of the year.
Admit it you guys just don't like to see the old guys like Big Dick show you pups up!

I say good for Dick Weber -- nothing wrong w/giving him an expemption (think of the interest it would have generated if Dick and Pete could have faced off against each other--the kind of stuff movies are made of. Not likely, but interesting). And congratulations to Chris Barnes (I'm from the Dallas area so of course I am rooting for Chris B; I also root for the rest of the guys from the Dallas metroplex -- Chris Johnson, Wes Malott, Paul Fleming, D J Archer, etc).

So you like this guy????
Yeah, he treats me sweet -- I met him at a bowling alley. (Matchstick Men)

as much as i envy chris barnes ability i'd like to have seen dick weber beat him. at 70+ years old dick weber still has "game" and his win this year proves just that.
