Belmo 2017 POY?
« on: January 02, 2018, 02:57:16 PM »
Is there a debate left to have?  Going into the WSOB I would have said EJ had a slight edge, but 3 Majors in one year basically beats any other argument.

I'm sick of this whole 2 handed thing. I was going to vote for EJ just because he showed how good a bowler could be throwing with one hand.

However, watching Belmo win the PBA World Championship convinced me he's the guy. The subtle adjustments he make when it looked like he would be buried, and his pressure performance in the final match convinced me he's deserving.

Still, I'm going to hold my nose when I push the vote button.  ;D

It's whom ever the PBA wants it to be. Pretty simple to see

I have never bowled 2 handed and the only reason I ever would is to learn how to teach my 7yo son how to do it (which kind of pointless I guess since he is other handed).  Have been subtly encouraging him to learn it because is kind of the way of the future.  Hate for him to see as many 9/ like his rev challenged old man  :P.  Accuracy is king but accuracy + revs is greater.

Agreed HackJandy,

On fresh THS the many of the two handers create so much miss room that they are never forced to be accurate very often.  If they were as precise as Belmo and others at that level it's a clear advantage.

Our scratch league is second shift, and by game 3 the rev dominant players are scratching their heads...

Kudos to Belmo for being so good at it.

Belmo is the best right now.
I wish my old body would let me learn the 2 handed style ...

It appears to me as the past couple of years has set it up for a handful of guys to dominate the PBA for a while.  I am not a fan of the two handed style but am able to acknowledge that Belmo has worked his ass off to be the best at it that he can be - so I respect that.  EJ generates so much power that he, Marshal Kent, and probably Ryan Ciminelli. will be the three one handed guys that will give Belmo all he can handle.  Then throw Svensson into the mix and I think those five guys will be fighting for dominance for a while.

It's just a matter of time until someone else takes over. Belmo has had one hell of a good run so far though.
