For anyone that might read Bill Simmons...
« on: November 28, 2007, 05:16:03 AM »
He is doing a chat today, and one of his buddies is Rob Stone.  Here is a question many will like...or hate...most likely hate...

Dan (Louisville, KY)
Speaking of your buddy Rob Stone, he's the new play-by-play guy for the PBA pro bowling tour.  Any chance of you making a cameo on one of those broadcasts for a fun little segment about how good the pros are compared to the average bowler?  I'm sure America would love to see you and Rob battle to see who could break 100 while one of the pros drops a 268 game against you.

BILL SIMMONS
It's in the works - need to figure out the perfect Sunday so it would probably be after NFL season. The funny thing is that Rob gets 3X the audience for bowling than he does for his favorite sport (soccer).

Wait, why will we hate this?

If anything it acknowledges the ability of the professionals.

Because people complain about Rob and then complain about the side things they do.  They complain that they don't show every shot from the same angle so you can see every release, etc.  I think it will be cool though...  At first I didn't like him, but he is growing on me...

Atleast Simmons acknowledges the fact that bowling gets better ratings than soccer.  Must be all those sweet Denny's commercials.

(FYI, also being discussed in the "Rob Stone" thread)  And hey, first time I've ever gotten a question posted in a Simmons chat!  Considering he gets flooded with quite literally tens of thousands of questions in one chat sometimes, that's not bad.
