Who's going to own in 2008?
I think Chris Barnes will overcome some of his television woes, and win 2-3 titles. Rhino Page will have another solid season, but nothing mind-blowing. 2 titles tops. Pete Weber will bounce back with a title. PBIII and WRW will each win a title. I secretly hope PBIII wins a ton now that he broke his 61 event losing streak.
But I think Norm Duke is going to absolutely own this year. He finished last season like a ball of fire, and he's healthy now. I hope he owns the world.

I can't help but think that the 64 player exempt format will control a dominant performance from anyone but I see Tommy Jones having an ENORMOUS season. That's simply too much talent to keep off of the Sunday telecasts.

DUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUKE. Once he finally stopped reinjuring his calf every week last year, he was throwing it very, very well. You don't win two majors like that otherwise. (His performance in the US Open was downright insane) His game's withstood the test of time and keeps him out of trouble when the lanes get tough, so it's hard to bet against him.

Jeff Carter will win the US Open, mark my words *marks*

I second the Big Nasty will have another very good year and so will Chris Barnes. That guy has some serious game and I think he has overcome his TV woes..
TJ is also due for a great year..
I also don't think Walter Ray Williams will do that well.. Yea he will make his token couple of shows, but I don't see him dominating this year..
The "red" ball up 5 will have some problems this year..

I would put my money on Duke and Page.
BUT - keep an eye out for Chet Rogers and Craig Tuholski.
If they don't suffer from the first year curse, they'll do really well.
Chet throws the ball like Wes Mallot - only better. :0)

1- WRW Jr.
2- Norm Duke
3- Tommy Jones
4- Sean Rash
5- Patrick Allen
6- Parker Bohn III
7- Mika Koivuniemi
8- Wes Malott
9- Mike Scroggins
10- Pete Weber
Any of the above bowlers is able to have a standout year.
The one to watch, though, if he gets it going and doesn't let the memory of many of his past TV appearances defeat him mentally, is Chris Barnes. If he's able to put his past troubles behind him, I firmly believe he will repeat POY.

There's too many
either Duke or PBIII will have a huge year
TJ, Rash will have another good year
Wes Malott(the Big Nasty) might have a huge year with Roto
PDW should bounce back
I see WRW only winning 1 title
I wouldn't be surprised to see Tony Reyes and Doug Kent bounce back and have a good year
Now you have to include Rhino, not having to go through the TQR's

Mallot, T J, P B III, Rash, and Rhino.
Thats gonna be the group that will hopefully own this year.

I'll say Norm & Rhino Page w/PDW as a dark horse. Rhino doesn't have to worry about qualifying every time now that he's exempt & Norm w/a full healthy year. PDW knows he bowled well all year except for when the lights went on. He's got something to prove again & when he does.....

Norm Duke, Chris Barnes, Wes Malott and PBIII. I look at all of these guys and could see any of the 4 have a dominating year!

I don't think so. The pool I mentioned comprises bowlers capable of having a dominating year.
It's not like you can select just a handful and say that no one else stands a chance.
In fact, I also believe that Rhino and Ryan Shafer should be thrown into the mix.
And, it wouldn't be surprising to me in the least if someone else other than those I've mentioned kicks everyone's arse.
After all, these guys are ALL top notch caliber keglers.

Parker and Norm 3 wins, Rhino two. Wes Malott two.
WRW 1 maybe 2 wins, one a major! Scrogs another two wins.
Doug Kent too good to keep down.

i think there's two players you had better look out for. walter ray williams, jr., missed out on a record 7th player of the year award by two points after dominating the first half of the 2007-2008 season. and norm duke. duke has been injured and/or ill the past two years. had he been healthy he very well could have been player of the year for the last two years. both of these men have something to prove.

i always like to see tj on the show as hes my favorite bowler on tour...
rhino is also becoming of favorite of mine and think he will have another great season not having to go through TQR every week.

TJ will have another big year but Kenny Simard will win his 1st title.

Tommy Jones was also injured for a good portion of last year, thus the reason he only won a couple of titles.
I believe he will be posting another formidable season.
Besides, he's sure fun to watch!

Couch vs. Rhino Page . . . i wannna see that match so bad

I feel bad for the bowler's defenceless equipement when the bowler is not bowling up to par. . . .don't you?
-
I am hoping Jason Lundquist is going to have a great season. Got to talk to him for a while before, very nice guy.
-
JASON COUCH - he's itching to get it going again and has something to prove. Oh how quickly we forget just how good this guys is...
On a side note, the fool that earlier mentioned Terrance Reeves is an IDIOT! Are you kidding me??? His only success will be in Vegas sporting DRAG for "big tips"!
Seriously, though... The kid's a fine bowler. Hell of a lot better than me! But I'd be surprised if he even makes one show.

Since everyone is picking the well known popular players, I'm going to try to pick 2-3 different guys ...
Dave D-Entremont - a homer pick (from a Cleveland suburb), but he performed very well in winning the tour trials. Maybe he makes a splash finally on the national tour.
Mike Scroggins - Played very well last year. I'm not sure it was an aberration.
Liz Johnson - Will become the first woman to make a PBA finals in a regular season event.
Of course, if I could accurately predict these sorts of things, I'd have nailed the lottery a few times by now.

Yes, she did. 2005 Banquet Open. She beat Malott in the semis, and then lost to Tommy Jones in the championship match.

Personally I think its between Danny Wiseman and Norm Duke. Duke is my flatout fav but Wiseman is due a huge year and with roto making a pearl cell and the grand illusion coming out I think he will be an underdog this year. He continues the trend of older bowlers coming out of nowhere to get back on the map. Ie Dave D, Mike Scroggins, Parker Bohn III... My opinion.

No one thinks Tony Reyes will come back from his injury and grab a title? I think he will!
-
I pick Losch to have a big year.
-
I hope Duke, Rash, Page, and Carter have a great year! I think Duke is going to reek some havoc this season for sure.
-
Bill o'neill the free agent, im feeling a 2 win season from the young player. Look out he is better then ever right now!
-
I'm expecting great things for Chris Loschetter. You may never meet a nicer person on and off of the lanes, he is just a class act all around. I predict that he will at the very least break through and win his first career title. Chris has a great versatile game and always seems to get the job done whether he has a great look or has to grind through a rough block. Mark my words, "C-Lo is a force to be reckoned with!"
-
Well I'll throw out some predictions.
POY: Chris Barnes (yea I think he'll repeat as insane as that sounds)
In contention: Wes and Mika, expect them both to win at least once, I see Wes taking down 2-3 and expect Mika to take one of the majors.
Surprise: Tony Reyes. I think coming back he'll remind everyone not to forget about him.

Id love to see a season basically completely dominated by just a few guys.
Duke, WRW, TJ, Rash, Rhino, & Wes.
I hope scroggins, schafer, & PDW dont make a single telecast.....i cant stand any of them.

norm if he can stay healthy and I think that ken abner comes out and takes rookie honors this season, but i'd like to see carter and loch. but i really am interested to see how wolfe does this year

Kenny Abner will have a BIG year out of the central region. Will be his 'rookie' year I do believe, but he won't perform like a rookie. Barnes and Jones will battle for the POY IMO.

If you guys have not been watching the team event, Tommy Jones has been the man and my prediction is he will be player of the year!!! My sleeper is Billy O, with him having a better understanding of his equipment and drillings to fine tune his ball reactions I see him winning 1 or 2 titles this season!!!

Why would anyone fear a bowler?

I personally think that Michael Fagan is going to have a HUGE year
he consistently was in match play was a few breaks away from some shows
I also think TJ and Mike Wolfe will have good years
And I'm gonna throw Sean Rash into the group too

I think Ryan Schaffer will finally break his runner-up finishes with a title this season maybe two.Tommy jones and Wes MAllot will regular tv finalists. but mike edwards and tommy delutz jr might surprise alots of folks.

DEFEAT is only MOMENTARY!!!!!!
I have no special talent, only passionately curious!

Wes, TJ, Rash, and Rhino are all solid picks. I hope we also see some of Tony Reyes and Doug Kent. PB3 and Couch will also be there. Duke, Barnes, and WRW JR are givens but I hope to see some of the youth shine. I guess after all that I could have just listed the entire exempt roster.
-
im interested to see how couch does comming off that season layoff i know he's been at a couple regionals in the central area lately

my guy is def the big nasty, but im thinking PDW is gonna have a big year...he has got some serious game and i think he can pull himself together...
also watch out for the two 2 handers in the PTQ's valenta and belmonte both have the pba cards, so they could make some noise if they can get through the qualifiers...my opinion

I think Walter Ray is gonna have another crazy year.
The man is a machine.
I wasn't always a fan of his, but he's won me over.
His game is defying his age--in fact, he seems to be better than ever, and the scary thing is, he’s appears to be still improving.
He just won 2 individual Gold Medals at the World Championships in Bangkok, Thailand (Singles and Masters) with an extremely tough international pool of exceptional keglers (some of which were his team-mates) as his adversaries.
The PBA is comprised of incredibly talented players.
Having said that, I feel Walter Ray is gonna be the one to beat.
In fact, I think that out of all the great current PBA stars, if there is one player that is feared by his peers, it is none other than Mr. Walter Ray Williams Jr. — just ask Pete Weber.

I have a strange feeling that Jeff Carter is going to come out with guns blazing. Storm has released some equipment that will be very dangerous in his hands. Also, im going to have to agree with Mcdaniel, watch out for those two handers especially Valenta. That guy can straight up play!

I agree with jmiller88...Carter is going to be primed and ready to win this year after last years injury....and Valenta is freaking awesome!!! He's got a good attitude about the game and he's getting more and more experience! and he's fun to watch!
