Possibility of a very boring show this week....or is it?
« on: December 08, 2005, 01:23:04 PM »
I'm hoping not, but by the luck of numbers many of the most exciting guys are all bunched into one bracket which leaves alot of guys that we love to see on TV unable to make it together.  The good side is, maybe we will see some fresh faces on the telecast but lets look at the 4 brackets:

Bracket 1
#1   B. Kretzer
#32 R. Lawrence

#16 W. Williams Jr
#17 T. Criss

#9   C. Johnson
#24 W. Malott

#8   B. Himmler
#25 M. Koivuniemi

Now while Chris Johnson and Brian Kretzer are pretty hype guys to watch, little can be desired for watching Rick Lawrence, Tim Criss, Mika, and Wes who are all great bowlers, but a bit on the boring side(unless one of them is striking up a storm.  It'd be cool to watch Walter Ray go for the tie on Earl's record, but Tim Criss has been red hot lately(even in the regionals before the season started), so that'd be a potential burn in the first round.
My prediction out of this bracket: Brian Himmler or Chris Johnson

Bracket 2
#5   B. O'Neill
#28 T. Daugherty

#12 P. Allen
#21 R. Pedersen

#13 T. Jones
#20 J. Ciccone

#4   J. Couch
#29 M. Wolfe

This is easily the most talented braket of 8 I've ever seen match up.  Unfortunately all of these guys cannot make the show because they all throw it great and are pretty fun to watch, especially Bill O' Neill(YOU'RE MY BOY BILLY, GO GET EM!), Tommy Jones, Couch, and Daughtery(gotta love the no-thumbers).  Too bad all of these guys are bunched up because a final 4 of any of these guys would make for an awesome TV Show.
My prediction out of this bracket: Bill O' Neill or Patrick Allen

Bracket 3
#2   P. Weber
#31 T. Delutz Jr

#15 P. Fleming
#18 C. Hayden

#10 A. Monacelli
#23 S. Jaros

#7   R. Shafer
#26 M. Scroggins

It sucks that Weber/Delutz got paired so early cause that would make for a spectacular TV rematch.  I love watching delutz throw the rock, as well as Paul Fleming(the king of smoothness).  The lower half of the bracket is fuzed with veterans.  With the exception of Amleto/PDW/Delutz, little can be desired for the rest of the guys' intensity on the show.
My Prediction for this bracket: Pete Weber or Ryan Shafer

Bracket
#6   N. Duke
#27 T. Baker

#11 A. Gomez
#22 P. Bohn III

#14 P. Healey Jr
#19 M. Fagan

#3   B. Voss
#30 R. Smith

Another so-so bracket.  Smith, Voss, and Duke are all excellent showmen on TV.  And from what I remember of Fagan's college days, he can be quite the character but it seems as if he has had problems closing on long matches so far this year.  Andres Gomez would be a fresh face to see on the show and from what I've heard from a few tour guys is he is TOUGH to beat when the shot forces you wayyy deep as it seems to be playing this week.  Healey and Baker are some of the best shot makers out there but watching them on TV leaves alot to be desired.
My Prediction for this bracket: Pat Healey or Gomez

Now some of my comments may have seemed negative, but I feel that one thing the sport is missing on sundays is the showmanship.  I'm not saying anyone should go out there and act like a moron to entertain, but to me there's nothing more satisfying than watching someone bowl great that believes they are bowling great and is showing it.  I love to see shows full of emotion, no matter what the scores may be and I'm hoping that this week makes for an awesome show despite most of the best sunday performers being grouped in one bracket.

Bill O Neill is going to have a ton of support from many many fans of his homestate, and from watching him bowl collegiately for 3 seasons he is untouchable from deep inside.  He is going to be my favorite for this week.
