Mika back in the Mix
« on: March 06, 2005, 06:13:11 AM »
Kovuniemi is back in the race for Player of the Year. He has a great shot at the PBA Championship and the Tournament of Champions for that matter. He has the best mental game on tour to go along with an incredibly versatile all around game.

i know a TON of people on here understand i am a HUGE koivuniemi fan... and i think he is amazing. but he has a terrible temper, which i saw him unload in Dallas while bowling Pat Girard. down 3-1, Mika threw at a spare in the THIRD frame... and afterwards (no joke) picked up all of his gear, save his spare ball and one strike ball, and carried it all out to the back. he throws a fluffer in frame 4, leaves the 6-10... and CHUCKS his spareball at it about chest high AND 20-some-odd feet down the lane.

best mental game? nope. nowhere near a danny wiseman. but he's still my favorite bowler.

DON,...I was there and saw that little "baby-fit" he threw. What a crybaby. The fans really got a good look at behavior unbecoming a professional..what was cool is Girard spanked him ....

I think he's pretty much a jerk off the lanes. Guys like Robert Smith, Brad Angelo and Tony Reyes will talk to the fans who come and watch then you have guys like Kovuniemi and Williams who really don't seem to care what the fans think. What these guys fail to realize is that without the fans there is no PBA Tour!! Hopefully one day it will sink in.

Master of leaving the solid 10 pin

i think you missed my point...

considering i have met him numerous times as well, i can vouch for Mika being a real nice individual... LOL, when he is in a good mood. but during qualifiers i think he is 'game-mode' and that's about it.

i like mika, he IS my FAVORITE BOWLER on tour. all i said was he throws fits on the lane when he's not lining up. and, instead of trying to salvage a chance to advance past rd. 32, he levels a 25 MPH lane-cruncher halfway down the alley before lane contact... thats not very suave, calm and cool. i liked watching guys like DJ archer or Chris Johnson when they lose (no offense guys! don't beat my a$s at Don Carter next week!!! )... they still were trying. hell, archer kept fishing for something even when he was down 40 pins. oh well.
