Difference Between???
« on: January 29, 2007, 10:47:16 AM »
So, after reading many posts about Billy O and Sean Rash, what really is the difference between the two???  Sean yells fairly loud about who the fans really should root for, and Billy O yells whose house is it.   Tell me again what the difference between the two is.   I like them both so don't go there.  They both instill excitement to a telecast.  I just don't see the difference.  Just asking for opinions.

I don't get that same feeling; well, maybe I do.

When Billy does it, it's like we and his opponent know he is just glad for himself, Billy, and not trying to make his opponent feel bad or insignificant.

It's kind of 2 weeks ago, when Patrick Allen and Couch threw some words back and forth and the commentators made it sound like aggressive nastiness. Yet when it was over, you could see Couch and Allen laughing among themselves, on camera without rancor. They had a good game and it was over. I could see it in their eyes. No hard feelings at all. It's more like watching the Seniors bowling: cameraderie - we put on a good show for the fans.

With Rash, I get the same feeling as I get when watching Pete Weber: if the opponent had a heart attack or a stroke on the lane (God forbid!), they would both go over and kick the guy in the ribs for good measure. The idea is that they want to win AT ANY COST, literally. It's just a feeling I get watching them.

Thanks guys.  Just needed some input.  A few of us were having a discussion about this topic on Sunday while watching the telecast.

Oatman = the underdog; someone we all want to see succeed; someone we all can relate to and hope that someday we can be in his shoes coming from nowhere and being successful

Rash = the cocky one; someone most people in the world will never be able to emulate; has had huge success since being on tour

I like them both.  I saw Rash in person and he got game for real.  I saw him throw 16 for 17 strikes during the tournament and all I got to say is that he is a machine.  Oatman is the new "people's champ".  I hope to see him win several titles.
