Is what's going on with Carlos Pena and Evan Longoria considered choking ?

i really am getting tired of all the barnes bashing. but, people have a right to their opinion. however, when someone i know belittles him because of his attitude....they say he has a chip on his shoulder. well, maybe he does. if your father died in a housefire trying to save his family and you were a son who survived you might feel a little different too..........

I have probably forgotten more about bowling than you will ever know, but that's a topic for another thread.  I think Jeff can speak for himself, we worked it out ourselves, thanks.  Stop trying to kiss his butt, geesh.

On with the original post, Longoria and Pena at the time the post was made were feeling the pressure of the World Series and the Phillies outstanding pitching.  Barnes put together an outstanding tournament in a Major and ran into possibly the Best Bowler in the game right now.  He just seems to be at a different level than everyone else right now.

I pretty much agree with that statement.  The Phillies pitching had done a great job up to this point of shutting the Rays bats down.  Pena and Longoria looked like they might be pressing a bit, but I give more credit to the pitching than the pressure of the game.  If the Rays can pull out game five, they can catch on fire in a hurry with all those young hungry players.  Don't count them out until the last out is recorded.

I think the deal with Barnes was that he knew he could only go 220-230 from inside, which was probably only good for 2nd place.  Credit him for making a move that ultimately didn't help in the end, but he had the stones to go try it anyway.

Barnes has choked before (against Haugen, most memorably), but I doubt anyone can say he choked against Norm Sunday. It should have been clear to anyone who understands ball reaction, after watching the two semis, who was going to be favored in the final. When Barnes has to start a TV semifinal playing that deep, and he's going to have to go through Norm in the process, it's not going to go well for him.

And despite what happened to Barnes in the 10th (i.e., moving back inside and striking), I can easily understand why he chose to move out there with Norm. Like Randy said on the telecast, you're not only playing a line that someone is using successfully, but Barnes also had the chance to affect Norm's line. Norm was just too good for him Sunday.

I'm done arguing with ya MainePBA...cause you know me and know what I know...sorry I haven't won any state titles in Maine...really if you have to say something like that, then I know what kind of person you really are...good luck at the next Maine state title when you bowl in a field of 6 bowlers done arguing with ya...grow up mr. pro...

One, you need to stay out of things that don't concern you, and two, you are the one who needs some maturity.  It's people like you that the younger generation is what it is today. The reason I got on you in the first place was because you made a snide remark about Boston fans in general, and got involved in a matter between myself and Jeff.  I am quite sure he can speak for himself without your help.  If you don't like the backlash, then stay out of an argument between two other people.  Since you can not, and have to resort to name calling and bashing, expect to get it right back.

You have accomplished oh so much in your day, it is VERY impressive, I expect to see you winning on tour any day.  Trust me, I have bowled in many PBA events, and held my own very well, thank you very much.  If you would like, I can send you the state application (the tournament runs in May) and I can show you just how many bowlers show up, and how to get it done.  I would be willing to bet you wouldn't even finish in the top 20.

I mean, you bash Boston fans, bash me for arguing with Jeff, stick your nose in where it doesn't even belong, and try and "know" what state of mind I am in.  Yet, you wonder why I respond back the way I did.  You ever wonder how the things you say affect people?  I guess not.  Keep thinking you're more important than you really are, I can see you're one of the lost younger generation anyway.  BTW, you've been bowling since you were four, and you only have (4) 300 games and an 815 series?  Sorry, not impressed.  I don't put up everything I have ever accomplished on a national level, only some of the things I have done in the game, but I can change my profile if it would make you feel better.  I'm done in this thread, and with you, sorry to hijack it Jeff.
