Chicago - pattern B (Shark) - Out of bounds????
« on: November 07, 2004, 03:34:21 AM »
Just watched first match. I thought there was supposed to be an out of bounds with heavy oil out side?
NOT!

I watched Chris Johnson throw a ball (without a lot of revs; yes, I know he can throw a lot of revs but he wasn't today) that went oujt to about the 4 board and came up HIGH!

Out of bounds? my left nut!

230+ average for several bowlers. Ok, so I know they need good scores to "score' with the TV audience, but they could make them EARN their position by putting a somewhat tough shot during match play.

Oh, one more thing, while I'm in RANT mode.

Supposed Brian Voss bowled the most games at 26 to qualify.
26? C'mon already; give me a break. My ancient, aching bones, as well as Sawbones's body could bowl 26 games over 3-4 days and still be able to bowl a TV match or 2.

Does anyone remember the old All-Star torunaments where they bowled 100 games to QUALIFY??
Or even the old PBA long format tournements where people bowled 54 games in 4-5 days to qualify.

Wussies!

{rant mode off!}

Yes, there is out of bounds. You have to remember that we have practice on that paif for sum amount of time. We practice on the pair and blow away that part of the lane. We burn it up so bad that it dries out. With surface and all the practice the out of bounds turn into a surface where it may try and start coming back. The four of us can dry out the lane that it might take a 5 member league team 3 games to burn up. CJ

Why don't you just stay on your little bbe site, and leave this one to the big boys, if you hate it here so much.

Geez, calm down, it was a joke.  WTF is with people blowing up today?  First charlest, now BL......You guys need some prozac or something.

I was just saying that so we would actually know it's Chris Johnson on here...

You misjudge me. Now that I disagree with you, now I'm wrong? I didn't "blow up". I expressed my feelings towards an incorrect statement by another, with much reserve compared to how I actually felt. I take offense that when I tell you something that you agree with or accept, I'm fine and thanked. But when you disagree with what I wrote, now I'm out of line.

I did reply to you Johns but I erased it. You would have liked what I wrote but I thought better of it. Why not buy a ticket to an event and come up and tell me what you wrote. Could be very interesting.

CJ was the lanes so different that you had to use two balls?
Just thought it looked like that hurt you.

If you didn't mean to offend, then why say something so dumb. It is people like you that keep the pros away from these boards. It's a shame too because they are real people too that have alot to offer.

Hey CJ, why don't you just ask for a miracle, guys like that are too cheap to buy a ticket.  Great bowling, and good luck for this season, hope to see you post on here when you get a chance.

CJ – Great bowling Sunday. Sorry about the lame comments. We have a lot of immature kids on this site. Don’t let them keep you from posting. We all are very interested in what the PRO’s think.

I did notice that even after you knew you had lost you didn’t knowledge VB. Seemed like you were snubbing him. Did you shake his hand and wish him luck off camera?

I’ve also listed below what a few others think about making the shot(s) more like the tournaments we attend. Tell us what you think.

quote:
The reason we all feel the ABC national is a fair event is due to the fact that no one gets to practice on them before hand and the few balls we are allowed only lets us see what the lane is doing and then no warmup tosses when it comes time for doubles and singles(at least that was true the last time I bowled in it)
Even our everyday tourneys do not allow us to practice on the pair we are assigned to. The PBA should not allow those who make the show to practice on the pair that will be used and to make it even more interesting, the pair that is going to be used should have a different pattern than what they have bowled on all week and that pattern should not be announced ahead of time.
That would show who can adjust the best. And in one game, one can not blow holes or mess up the other person.
______________________________________________________________
I wouldn’t go that far. I would use the same pattern as all week. Then I would let them warm up on an adjacent pair and then give them 4 practice shots on each lane before the match started.

Well I certainly enjoy having CJ occassionally stop out here and talk with us more normal bowlers.  Anytime I heve emailed him it has been a pleasure getting helpful responses from him.

I've always found JOhns811 to be a very pleasant guy also and am surprised he made his comment.  Many people frequently trash each other a little out here and he probably has never done anything to offend anyone.

Hope CJ keeps coming out here and giving us his insight!  It's nice to hear it right from the horse's mouth.  I look forward to watching you finally get some carry and winning the multiple titles I'm sure you are going to!

Go CJ.
