That was Barnes's match to win.  He seems to always get a split when the pressure amps up.

If a double elimination tourney, why doesn't the top seed need to be

defeated twice?

I don't know, I couldn't watch the show so I don't know what kind of shot he threw.  I like Barnes and am awed by his physical talent, however, man that guy sure loses a lot it seems.  It's almost as if he doesn't run away with it in the first 8 frames he poops the bed.

Fagan found the way to carry the 10, while Barnes seemed to tighten up once that ugly split happened. I don't know how any human could stay loose under Barnes' circumstances, but I am happy for Fagan.

Sidenote: I thought Thorne did fine for his first try.  He'll learn as time goes on, just like Stone did.

In defense of Chris, he dominated the USBC Masters and won the match play tournament brackets.  He was the best bowler out there.  The single match step-ladder TV finals is not the best way to determine a bowling champion in my opinion.  It's pretty harsh actually, and disadvantageous to the best bowler (aka number one seed).  The only way to determine a true champion in bowling is at least a three game set.

Fagan won it, Barnes made the adjustment he felt necessary on the touchy lane...Saying Barnes choked would be saying Bryon Smith choked when he lost to Fagan..the invisible transition we face as bowlers can get the best of us at any time..all the couch bowlers who say Barnes choked have no sense of reality...Barnes got off to the hot start and never really kept it going in the end...he had a miss where he made the adjustment and it wasn't the best result..Fagan struggles to carry the corners early and made the right move and finished strong..he won, barnes lost...Fagan wasn't given the title..and Barnes didn't choke it away...

The TV time NEEDS to be bought for the masters program..simply put...it is not fair to anyone who goes undefeated as needed in the DOUBLE ELIMINATION bracket of 3 game matches just to lose ONE game and that ends your tournament..In all honesty I believe, even though it would be hard to watch a show with the same two bowlers, that the tv finals should consist of the same three game match between the undefeated bowler and the survivor of the losers bracket...and if the undefeated bowler loses that match he has to lose a second three game match..

People who say Barnes choked just have no clue.  Couldn't shove a needle between their buttocks with a bulldozer if they were in his situation.

No choke on Barnes part. He just didn't execute his game plan. If you had Xtra frame and watched the match between him and Fagan, he played the lanes differently. Just another bad TV show and 2nd place finish again. He will get there. So much talent and his breaks will come. Congrats to Fagan for executing his plan and first major....9

I had a friend call me from vegas earlier today. He said barnes used an Omen for all his match play.

He told me that ball cracked in practice before the show and was  not useable.

bad break for Chris

Normally, I would say Barnes choked.  However, this time I think it was just an adjustment from the prior shot on the same lane that caused it to go high.  It actually didn't even look like a bad shot off his hand.  The oil was a little screwy today for everyone.
