Chris Barnes on Xtra Frames Last Week...
« on: January 15, 2009, 11:57:38 PM »
In case you didn't know at the National Bowling Stadium Championship last week in match play (Thursday), they showed Chris Barnes using the oldest ball in the history of the PBA.  It wasn't even a reactive resin ball.  He was using the 1990 (yes 1990!) Columbia 300 U2 LOL!

Even the announcers were laughing and Ritchie Allen was saying 'wow what a great ball for Chris as he left split after split on the Xtra Frame broadcast.  I just saw it last night because it was cold and I couldn't sleep.

Is Chris Barnes crazy?  Look up the ball on bowlingballreviews if you don't know about it.  Some plastic balls hit better than it.  And I thought him using Messengers on TV was bad LOL...

I've had multiple honor scores using older urethane equipment.  U2 was one of the better urethane balls back in it's day and flared a good amount as a 2 piece.

A friend earned an Eagle in 91 using a Pink Hammer on one lane and a U2 on the other.

Bowling did not just begin when reactive resin was introduced nor urethane.

Yeah I recognized the ball when I saw the picture of it.  I would just think with so much money on the line and his pick of pretty much any C300 ball ever made, why he would choose a 19 year old ball - that wasn't carrying good at all and leaving many splits.

It obviously carried well enough to get him on the TV show.  Despite what people say about Chris Barnes, he knows what he's doing.  If he felt the U2 gave him the best look, then I applaud him for using it and not feeling like he needed to use a newer ball.

Personally I would love to see a tournament, like the plastic ball championship, where they use just Urethane equipment...all the way through the tournament.

Maybe you're just an idiot Necro....

You're a typical wall baby, you think the ball carries, and that anything not currently in production is inferior to the latest and greatest.

Maybe you don't remember this because it was ancient history (2002), but Brett Wolfe won the Masters with a Blue Hammer.  There is a player on the Southern Region that has won many titles with a Blue Hammer as well.

Matchups hit...not balls....

Again...you're incredible ignorance shines through.

You obviously didn't watch Xtra frames.  The announcers as well as Ritchie Allen were laughing at him.  Also I don't use new equipment.  Some of my stuff is like from 2005.  Don't hate just because I made a comment about your american idol Chris Barnes.

Who said he was my American Idol.  I think he's kind of short and a jerk....but he doesn't deserve the constant bashing that douchebags like you dish out.

You're a complete hack...you even admit it in your signature...and you constantly stand in your glass house and throw rocks at other people.

They were probably laughing cause he was smart enough to try something different. It's odd seeing somebody using an old urethane ball now with all the newer technology that is outthere. I bowled against a guy that would use his old blue hammer all the time and tear it up. He just pumped up 10 and would carry when everyone else was ringing 10 pins. Chris is smart enough to know what will work for him and what won't. I give credit to him for trying something different.
