Does/Should Denny's own everything?

Does it bother anyone else that everything has become Denny’s owned on the PBA tour?

They would say that Mike Wolfe has now won 2 Denny’s PBA titles. No in my mind he won a PBA title and a Denny’s PBA title.

That Patrick Allen won a Denny’s PBA player of the year, etc, etc, etc.

I just hate the fact that money can seem to buy everything anymore including history.

I understand they have to plug the covering sponsors name but I wouldn’t seem right that they would say the Yankees have won xx MasterCard world series titles.

I worked for Boeing and when we merged with McDonald Douglas they started calling all the old planes Boeing planes. A Boeing MD-80, A Boeing MD11, A Boeing F-15 in my mind they were still Mac D planes and should remain that way.

Am I being petty?

Yes you are, Look at Nascar(which I hate). For years it was winston cup racing, winston cup points winner, winston cup this and that, now it the same with nextel cup, nextel this and that.  Next year or so it will be sprint cup and spint chase for the championship.  Not to mention each idividual race has it own name and sponsor and named trophy and such.  Thats what sponsers are for big bucks and big advertising.  I for one am glad the PBA has dennys for a sponsor I am glad that they had the $$$ helping them out.  Do I go to Dennys more nope we don't have any here, would i go more if we did, I doubt it but I might go some knowing I was helping the PBA even in some small way.  Its just a name and thats it they don't own the PBA tour they just paid enough money to get some decent advertisment out of it.

Well, they should be able to name everything since they became the title sponsor.  I too get rubbed the wrong way when the say tha Norm Duke has 22 Denny's PBA titles.  No, he has 22 PBA titles.  I could care less if they want their name on the current stuff, but they didn't spend a dime on the past.  I don't mind them splashing their name around as much as they can, but I'm not thrilled when they rename the past.  Guess I'm petty too.

I know all that shilling of the Dennys brand has me wanting to try that French Toast with the peaches baked right in.  MMM.....
