So the finals are taped and the results are out in some circles!!!! So why are we not seeing the finals on ESPN!!! BS???

Sports doesn't target anyone.....sports entities(leagues..athletes/agents) sponsors/commercialism/networks figure out what demographic will watch them and spend $$$$ on their telecast. You've been left behind long ago you just didn't know it.

EXACTLY! I love bowling, heck, I used to plan my saturdays aroung the P.B.A. tour telecasts so I wouldn't miss them. And I STILL try not to miss very many, if I can figure out when and where they are coming on.

But, now that I already know the winners, where is the suspense of watching? Where is the anticipation of hoping "my guy" can win, when I've already known for weeks he doesn't?

And, as for making the pros wait during commercial breaks, ever watched a pro football game? What do you think the players do during those T.V. breaks?

I agree with you about watching the live match...

as far as the waiting.. an NFL player waiting to come back from a commerical during a timeout and a bowler tossing 6 in a row and then waiting 2 mins until he can throw another ball is a little different...
The waiting affects the bowler a little more I would think..

REALLY.........NFL game is 3 hours in length sometimes longer bowling 3 game finals 1hr to 1 1/2 hrs max. While I may know the outcome I still want to know what happened to get there. I would rather have a recorded finals and still have the PBA than no PBA at all.

Dealying a finals is hardly a new thing...look at teh WSOP and the final table of the Main Event being shifted to four months after the final nine were determined...

And no, nobody in the poker world really seems to like it except for maybe Harrah's since they came up with the stupid idea.

Would really like someone KNOWN in the poker circle to pull a Randy Lightfoot after winning the thing...

There is a slight difference. They aren't actually playing the final table until November. But you bring up a valid point which could be used for both sides of the arguement. Harrahs moved the final table to November because of the ESPN airing of it, they thought more people would watch if they didn't know the winner, backing up Juggernaut and others point. But I counter that and say poker grew into the phenomenon that it is, even though the finals were taped and people could find out who won ahead of time. That didn't stop people from watching the shows. And the activity/sport grew exponentially in that time. Will bowling do the same no, but I don't think the taping of the finals is the bad thing that some proclaim it be.

Also, I think one other reason for the change in the WSOP was money, specifically PPV dollars. If the Final Table was set to run at a certain time, in the future, they were now able to put it on PPV and give people time to buy it. In the past, you would have had to follow along to see exactly when the tournament got down to the final 9 and then the final table was the next day, not a lot of time to buy in if you wanted to. Plus in the years the tournament grew, the schedules were changed drastically with multiple day 1's and day 2's that would have altered when people were looking for the final table, etc.

knowing the end results wouldn't affect whether i watch or not. i study how the pros bowl on tv, the transitions, ball changes, spare shooting all that. it's the journey that counts.

having said that, live telecasts are far better to me, and not because i wouldn't know who won already. the sense of excitement of watching something live isn't there.
